I go to school about 3 hours from here, i'll see if they have it at Bevmo around here.

Came up with this recipe over the summer, and brewed it for my wife's birthday. It's a Belgian pale ale that's hopped and dry-hopped with American cascade hops. It came out AWESOME.

Surly Furious Ale from MInneapolis. Mildly hopped but pretty good. I've been drinking Hill Farmstead lately, and everything else is coming up short.

Cans are definitely making a comeback.

Had some of this yesterday. Absolutely loved it. Malt/hop levels are really enjoyable and interesting.

Do you live near Peekskill? I'm getting good reports about the Peekskill brewery.

Yes. I've been to the brewery. Didn't think the beer was that special.

However, I really liked the brews produced by Captain Lawrence, also in Westchester County.

I need to somehow find a way to try Captain Lawrence's Golden Delicious, but obviously it's not out here on the west coast.

You're diggin' the new availability of teh Shiner, huh? besides their Bock, I've only had their Black Lager, which was OK, but not near the original stuff. Will need to branch out when I see it.

I didn't realize that the Captain Lawrence Brewery was in Elmsford - not too far at all. Is it worth going to? I have some family and friends right around there - if its worth a trip I will definitely try and arrange one.

The Bock is still my favorite Shiner, but this Wild Hare really impressed me. Kid of a hybrid beer; a Pale Ale, but with some nice malt. I also thought the Shiner Oktoberfest was good.

As for the Captain Lawrence Brewery, I had a great time tasting their beers. If you're close by, it's definitely worth a trip. No better place to sample their brews than right where they make it.

I took a trip up to Waterbury in August and bought a ton of Heady Topper. I stopped at a restaurant and had two Hill Farmsteads on draft. I wasn't blown away by them.

    Which are their best beers?

Later today I'm doing Pliny the Elder vs Heady Topper. We'll see who the best Double IPA in America is.
