In now way is this an "attack", but I've noticed that SAR I's threads - which are very popular - draw out all sorts of different opinions and agitations. The root of it is because they tend to be a little pessimistic "Fire Rex, the Jets won't win another game this season, etc."
Not sure if this has been asked before, but SAR I, what are your preferences for the Jets? You seem like an intelligent guy and this might clear up some of the choice words other posters write on those threads.
- If not Rex, who would the HC be? This can be now or back in 2009 when Rex was hired?
- What should the Jets do at QB?
- What do you feel is needed to make the Jets a contender again?
Just trying to see the method to the madness.
For what it's worth, I feel 2012 is the judgment year for this team. With Schotty gone (thank goodness), we will see if the problem is Schotty or Sanchez; Eli has prospered ever since the Giants hired a new OC in 2007 - just an example. Will also want to see how the Jets attack their weaknesses in FA and the draft. I would be happy with Michael Griffin as a FS (good, solid player who won't come top dollar), sign a solid WR who can stretch the field AND an offensive tackle (Wayne Hunter...no). A pass-rushing LB in the 1st round works nicely, we need youth and obviously pressure on the QB.
Speaking of a QB, we need a competitive backup to Sanchez. I don't think he is lazy, but I do think he is content. 2012 will be the judgment year.
