Here's the set list from their last show at The United Center in Chicago:

    You Really Got Me
    Runnin' With the Devil
    She's The Woman
    Romeo Delight
    Tattoo
    Everybody Wants Some!!
    Somebody Get Me A Doctor
    China Town
    Mean Street
    Oh, Pretty Woman
    Drum Solo
    Unchained

Doesn't look like a long show.

    Still pretty excited.

Not my money. I'm not even a huge Van Halen fan, but someone's taking us, got a box, so I'm always up for a fun night of live music. They were a legendary band back in the day--interested to see what they've still got.

And I haven't been to the "new" Garden yet, kind of curious.

Not even remotely possible, even if Eddie breaks his hand before the show.

Have a blast. Let us know how the sound is in the "new Garden".

Do you think these two groups would have played a show together in 1979? :D

First. Tapas at Pipa's were excellent. Octopus, chorizo, bacon wrapped dates, calamari, wild mushrooms and truffles, Ecuadorian gambas, goat cheese balls, catalan flat breads, chicken skewers, chili rejenos, scallops and serrano ham, potatoes slathered in some incredible cheesy goodness. Perfect light tasting menu before a concert. Highly recommend.

    Second. Kool and the Gang.

A LOT of energy. Hollywood Swingers and Jungle Boogie were outstanding. Too Hot was my favorite performance, brought me back to Syracuse and Club 37 in 1981. Celebration brought the house down. Literally piling on at that point. Great showmanship, crowd loved them.

Pics a bit blurry, took them with my BB.

    Van Halen.

    1. The guy having the most fun up there was Eddie. I don't know if he was drunk, drugged, lobotomized or just plain giddy, but he was totally enjoying himself, smiling, dishing and having a great time.

    2. Anyone--ANYONE dissing Eddie's guitar prowess is just wrong--the man can still flat out play the guitar as good as many of the greats with his own style. The guy is an absolute guitar virtuoso. I don't even LIKE Van Halen but to think Eddie isn't incredibly talented is just silly.

    3. The guy having the next best fun was David Lee Roth. Still has that voice (love it or hate it), still the consummate showman, but as good as it was (and the crowd loved him), to me it all sounded a bit forced. To quote Borgo, he looked like a tired Vegas act. Don't get me wrong, he put on a great show and the fans loved it, but it all seemed so forced. His dancing spinning jumping antics looked a bit embarrassing for a dude his age. He knew where the camera was at all times (Eddie never acknowledged the stage camera), and his scarves and ascots and flowery clothes were a bit over-the-top.

    4. Didn't look like there is any love lost between the two. Not a lot of chemistry between them, DLR did his thing and Eddie did his. Looks like a marriage of convenience/money grab. At the end of the show, they hugged, bowed and Eddie darted off the stage and DLR lingered to take in the platitudes, blow kisses to the screaming fans.

    5. I'll Wait, Hot For Teacher and Beautiful Girl (brought down the house) were my favorite songs of the night. Actually, everything they played was pretty good. Even Jump and Panama, as hokey as they are, were great. Very loud show.

    6. The bass player looked like Jonah Hill. Talented but nuff said.

    7. The "new Garden" is not new, they just hung new sh*t up on the walls. We started out in a box around the blue line--very nice--full top shelf bar, nicely appointed, but we moved down to the floor and it's virtually the same Garden. Not like the new Yankee Stadium or Citifield with a new structure--it's the same space with better wallpaper. We ended up with 6 seats in row 4 and 8 seats in row 16 on the floor, so we kept rotating based upon who was going to the bar. Was like every other MSG concert. The bar area off the floor seating was nice.

    8. There were some awesome babes there. Wow. This point is useless without pics, I know. Apologies.
