JI 2012 Resolution: The working out thread!

Post your daily workouts here, so we can get motivated, get ideas for new workouts, and if we should sign this beast (or two) to the Jets.

Yes, there will be the silly posts "beer in one hand, remote in the other", and all that, but this is the off season, and I'm dying.

I do 10 push-ups with my wife under me, once a month.

Don't ask me about my jogging regimen.

Training for a 1/2 marathon in June and POSSIBLY the NYC Marathon in November.

I run 3 days a week--two short runs on either Mon-Wed or Tues-Thur, then increasingly longer runs on Saturday. Some weeks I'll also throw in a 40 minute elliptical workout.

So now, my short runs are 3-3.5 miles (2X a week) and the Saturday run is up to 6 miles. Next week 7, probably top off at 8 milers until we get closer to May. I'll run an 11 miler 2 weeks before the 1/2 marathon, then back off to a 7 miler the week before.

Only problem is I have a touch of achillies tendonitis and it's killing me.

Also doing a 63 mile bike race in May, probably start biking 1-2 times a week in April.

No idea what I'm going to do for the Marathon if I get in. If I don't get in, I'm going to do a Tough Mudder in October--should be a blast :D

Not fat, but not entirely healthy either. Between work, a 2 year old and a 6 week old, I don't have time to jerk off, let alone work out. Well... Let's be honest, there's always time to jerk off.

All running. Done all of the NYRR half marathons besides the Bronx. Doing the Brooklyn Half Marathon again in May. Never felt the urge to try the full marathon. I should I guess.

I dont lift at all but I do distance runs three times a week and mix in intervals and hill sprints. Intervals are great if youre trying to lose some weight.

Diet is the key. Since my surgery, I've been eating right and have lost 11 lbs. Just by eating right, I feel so much better. Next step is to get back into shape.

Have been getting back into running recently.

Have been doing around 3, 6-7.5 miles runs a week.

Lifting roughly twice a week for about an hour a time.

My friggin Achilles is killing me today :(

It's my Jets fleece I wear around in the office when it's freezing in here.
I never used to get cold until I hit 40. Now every day I'm like a cold-blooded reptile that needs to *lie on a warm rock for a couple hours before I can get anything done)

I started using flat shoes about 6 months ago:

New Balance Minimus

In the beginning, my achilles and my calves were sore. I had blisters because it was a different run, and my feet felt every single stick, rock and twig I ran through. No socks.

6 months later I'm hooked. My legs have gotten stronger, and my arches don't hurt anymore. I have regular sneakers for the road (and some other specialty), but I think this strengthened muscles that we don't really use.

I use them to life, and for my kettlebells, as flat feet serve me better.

I didn't want to get "toesies" (toesies) and I opted for the New Balance ones instead.

I want to get those, but I'd never wear them in public.

It would look like I had gorilla feet.

They do the same thing that the New Balance ones (Minimus) that I got, but I think they look ridiculous (the toesies). They're good, but I'd look MORE like a gorilla than I already do, like you said. LOL. Some people can pull it off. Not I!

Every time I run I have to ice it down that night.

And while it's not technically a "work out", cutting back on booze during the week for Lent is making the running a lot easier.
