Saints "May" Be Disciplined for Bounty Program

Wow, can you imagine if this was the Jets? There would be hell to pay. If the NFL does nothing about this I myself, will be outraged. Did anyone else know about this? And any idea of who may be suspended?

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Saints are in danger of NFL discipline after maintaining a "bounty program" to take opposing offensive players out of games under former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams.

Per Schefter, the NFL's investigation began in 2010, when Williams' defense began targeting Brett Favre and Kurt Warner. Between 22 and 27 Saints defenders were allegedly involved, as well as at least one defensive assistant. The league has reportedly reviewed 18,000 documents totaling more than 50,000 pages. New Orleans' discipline may lead to fines, suspensions, and draft-pick forfeiture. Williams is now defensive coordinator for the Rams.

Might actually have to have found anything relevant before they do. And before anyone is "outraged"

LOL, if it was the Pats, they would have held a press conference and announced that they've "reviewed 18,000 documents totaling more than 50,000 pages, and will take an appropriate course of action". In the near distance, you'd see a bonfire with what looks suspiciously like 18,000 documents totaling more than 50,000 pages as fuel.

There's going to be more than a slap on the wrist here. Goodell has made player safety his defining issue.

No way is this only a fine. Payton suspension. Gregg Williams suspension even though he's on the Rams.

They don't have a 1st to take away so they could take a 2nd and 3rd instead.

A safe prediction: Saints will be disciplined far worse than the Patriots were for Spygate.
    well this should be fun...
should take the eyes off the JETS and their disaster for a while.

Any idea what happens to those picks? does another team get them or are they lost?

Just curious to know....would that bump teams down on the draft list (or up). How does this change the draft...if at all?

No team would be rewarded the picks, they would be forfeited and every pick behind it will simply move up one slot.

    from Adam Schefter:

Jonathan Vilma allegedly put $10,000 on the table for someone to "take out Favre" during the playoffs.

It's surprising to me considering Vilmas issues with his knees. He knows first hand how one hit could end your career. Disappointing.
