    The Hunger Games

    Anyone else excited for this?

The first book was a fun cheap thrill. Havent read the rest yet. Movie looks pretty sick.

Edit: Sucks that Lenny Kravitz is in it. How did that guy make a career, yuck.

Pretty excited. Books were very entertaining and Jennifer Lawrence should probably sit on my face for a week or so.

My 13 year old girl read it and loved it. She can't wait for the movie. It's like the twilight for pre-teens!

My wife read all three and loved them. She's also been raving about how those books have gotten her students to read on their own time. Some kids are literally reading as they walk the halls between classes.

You'd be surprised how many adults I have seen on the bus/subway reading this, not to mention the people at work.

i read them all. they were interesting. took me like 10 days to read all 3. they were entertaining, but they are for teenagers.

i'll go see the movie, because my wife is really into it. but i do expect there to be a lot of 14 year old girls there.

These books were mentioned in the Read a Book? thread. I think it was Borgo who said his wife and daughter read and enjoyed the books, and that they were trying to get him to read the books.
(Sorry, Borgo, if it wasn't you. I occasionally have those CRS -- can't remember **** -- moments.)

Never read the book (from what I've read about it, it's aimed at tweenagers, isn't it?)

When I reviewed the plot, it sounded like a de facto clone of the early Stephen King story "The Long Walk".

Given that almost all of King's work gets turned into poop in film form (with one or two exceptions, Shawshank being the obvious one), and because the odds of a "The Long Walk" movie appear quite low, perhaps I'd give the film a shot. Dystopian Future Fiction is somethign I usually enjoy.

When I first saw the trailer I thought it was the same girl who played Clooney's older daughter in The Descendents.

Took me a while to realize where I had recognized her from too. I thought at first she was one of the girls in Sucker Punch, but it turns out she was Mystique in the latest X-Men film.

    Regardless...

It was. My wife and son loved the series. They are cajoling me into reading at least the first one before the flick opens later this month.

As for Jennifer Lawrence, I first became aware of her in the film Winter's Bone. I thought she was absolutely brilliant in the movie. She is also quite fetching.
