Two months ago Incarcerated Bob was on the FAN and stated the Dwight Howard-to-Nets trade was done (days before Lopez was injured), that the papers had been filed with the league office and the Nets were setting up a conference call to announce the deal within 90 minutes.

It's called throwing sh*t at the wall.

Sounds great if it sticks, hardly anyone remembers if it doesn't.

Not to defend him but the deal was done. Orlando's owners stopped the deal. The gm's agreed. It's documented. Then Lopez got hurt. Yes he is wrong more than right but occasionally he does break trades and stuff before everyone else.

Didn't say I believe it, because I don't. But icb does break things every once in a blue moon. Jets may be talking trade but for another colt. Who knows.

They just cut Brackett. Why would they want two more over-the-hill, expensive linebackers?

He said the papers had been filed with the league office.

Once accepted by the league, isn't the deal done? He literally said it was going to be announced in 90 minutes from him "reporting" it.

    That's some pretty specific BS.

don't really know what the process is, but just because the papers were filed, does that automatically mean it's an accepted deal by the league? i'm sure there's some sort of down time where it's pending review.

i will say that i follow ICB on twitter, and he does tend to be correct with a lot of his predictions. he is also wrong on some, but i'd say he's really in the positive on his predictions.

and to add to the topic, i don't want Freeney on this team. unless we're switching to a 4-3 base defense, he's useless.

    4) Why trade for an oft-injured old vet in a draft bursting with young PassRushing talent with a new "cheaper" CBA salary structure for rookies?
And that's why he's not a fit for the Jets. Unless Rex decides to go 4-3.

It would not be a player for player swap unless we tossed in young talent.

Indy is rebuilding, they don't want players with age. If this were true, which it isnt we would have to trade pics. And the only way we'd do that is if Freeney agrees to a new deal.

What's Freeney worth in picks? I would not give more than a conditional 4 that can become a 3 based on play.

Freeney would be fine as a 3-4 OLB. Our 3-4 setup looks like a 4-3 half the time anyway, with 1 or both OLBs with their hand on the ground.

Schematically and fiscally this doesn't seem like a great move. He's too small to play 3-4 end so he'd have to play OLB and I don't know if Freeney really has the speed for that.

But on the flip side, we're not a purely 3-4 team.

Rex would probably mix in more 4-3 simply to help Freeney and he could possibly act as a mentor for Maybin.

Additionally, if this trade got rid of Wayne Hunter, then you'd be a dummy not to do it.

But I don't know what Freeney's cap number is, either.

Sounds about right. Maybe a 3 that can become a 2 someone would pay? I can't see anyone trading anything big because he makes 19 million this year. If he agree to a new contract, 3-4 year deal I could see somoene pulling the trigger. He's still damn good for an edge rusher.
