    Here is a good deal.

Scott and Sanchez for Ponder and 1st round pick swaps.

    Are you kidding me?

I doubt we could even get a 3rd round pick for Sanchez.

Some of you are overvaluing the hell out of this guy.

Why would they? With his contract that trade would be insane. Do you really think if the team wants to unload Sanchez they wouldn't jump on taking the 35th pick (Vikings' 2nd rounder) in the draft for him?

Trade's not going to happen regardless.

I would do that if we had someone who could throw the ball downfield.

We would become the 2011 Denver Broncos. 8-8 (+/- 1 game) here we come.

    2 losses to NE.

    Split with Buffalo.

    Who knows with Miami.

And that's with next year's "softer" schedule compared to this year.

Trade Sanchez and 16 to Minnesota for #3, BUT then I would begin the trade down process. Problem with that is that no team has any need to trade up to #3. This entire move would put the team back, again. More so than last year.

Tebow is not God. He just has God's phone number, and God doesn't accept calls with a New York area code.

Of course, I don't know what Sanchez contract looks like now.
dead wrong here, shadow. When you trade the player you trade the contract, so whomever wants Sanchez in a trade is responsible for the $20MM in guaranteed money.

But what really kills any possible trade talk is the approximately $10-12MM dead money hit the JETS would take. Its already been well reported when Sanchez got his extension that one of the benefits for the Jets was that after 2013 they could release him and the only consequence would be $6+MM in accelerated bonus dead money. Fast forward 2 years and the number is that much higher.

There is simply NO WAY the Jets can possibly trade Mark Sanchez this season...or next. If they did, they literally would have to cut players would wouldn't also have dead money implications or forfeit their draft

Whatever his worth is, it doesn't matter if a team is willing to overpay.

    Minnesota is desperate right now.

I agree that it's 99.99% not happening anyway, but reports like in the OP make it difficult to not think about it.

    He did in 1969-1970.

Oh wait, maybe that was the devil.

    It's something to talk about.

Perhaps you'd rather discuss Warren Sapp's filing for bankruptcy or Bryan Thomas' trip to Disney World?

The other day Jason said the cap hit would be $13M for trading Sanchez.

    Not happening.

    Are you serious?

Sanchez and the #16 for the #3 pick overall?

    No team is that stupid.

Please, do not let this be true. If we deal Sanchez, we have no typical pocket QB. Yes, we'll still have Greg McElroy and he played well last offseason but he's totally unproven.

If by some strange twist of misfortune this is true, the Jets will absolutely need to go after some proven veteran.

I want to follow this Sanchez thing to its conclusion. Sanchez is a sh*tty QB but he does show flashes of brilliance. So the jury hasn't actually made it's final decision. This season, however, IS the make or break year for Sanchez. If he f*cks up again, the Jets should move on with total confidence that they had done everything necessary to make Sanchez a better player. It will prove to everyone that Sanchez, and Sanchez alone ruined his own opportunity.

Not sure if you're serious but can Scott play in a 4-3? Plus they have Henderson.

Minnesota was so desperate for a QB they too tried the Brett Favre experiment. They desperately need a QB. Speculation or not its worthwhile discussion. I really dont wanna see Sanchez traded, hes got unfinished business here.

The Brett Favre experiment worked the first year. They should have went to the Super Bowl if it wasn't for Adrian Peterson's fumbles.

Why not? All it would take would be restructuring a few veteran contracts and they'd be under the cap.

If the Jets were to trade Sanchez, it shows that they are rebuilding. They'd likely get a couple of 2013 draft picks for him. Restructure a few veteran contracts, or just lop off some dead weight this season. Take their lumps with Tebow this year, then start fresh in 2013 with plenty of cap space and a boatload of upper round picks.

And Greg Williams' bounties on Favre.
