Not factual?
No. Not unless you think all African Americans look alike. I certainly don't.

    Oh lord.

Look at Obama, look at the kid, they look similar.

Which by definition implies that case means more to him than it would have if it was a white kid.

You can say that isn't what he meant (I would agree with you) but making that comment opens that door . . .
If I had a son, hed look like Trayvon. I think [Trayvon's parents] are right to expect that all of us as Americans are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves, and we are going to get to the bottom of exactly what happened.
Obviously, this is a tragedy. I can only imagine what these parents are going through, and when I think about this, I think about my own kids, and I think every parent in America should be able to understand why it is absolutely imperative that we investigate every aspect of this and everybody aspect of this, and that everybody pulls together federal, state and local to figure out exactly how this tragedy happened.
I think all of us have to do some soul searching to figure out how does something like this happen. And that means we examine the laws and the context for what happened, as well as the specifics of the incident.
1) He's calling for federal involvement in a local law enforcement matter;

    2) He's pretty much saying "race was a factor and we need to 'soul search' about the context . . . "

The President was talking about being a parent before he said it.
That's pretty racist.

Not factual?
If I prefaced every comment about current events with "As a proud white man..." It would be "factual".

    Jeebus.

But not the sort of "senseless situation", absent an assumption of racial motive, that required presidential invitation to "soul searching"

As a parent and a citizen I wish people like Zimmerman would know their place in society and let professionals do the police work.

Really? Thats not exactly what he said?

Of course thats not exactly what was said, but he tacitly entered race into it, as you well know when he refered to his own appearance...it was "factual" without having any proven nexus to the events as the facts were known at the time. The implications, coming from the POTUS... were enormous.

If you are going to play silly semantics, please be humorous at least.

Zimmerman may turn out to be the loon he is being portrayed as and he deserves everything the legal system can throw at him...but when you have the POTUS feeding the racial fires that so often result in secondary and tertiary incidents...its reckless and yes....racist.

Man I hope you really arent in LE.

He didn't refer to his own appearance, but you know better than all, the funny little prince of JI.

A 17 year old unarmed kid was killed walking on the street, that was a known fact, his parents were in mourning and the President as a parent related to them.
