Its ridiculous that this kid is only spending $14 on your daughter. You should sit him down and have a little talk with him. Explain to him that just like you, he needs to spend at $50 - $75 on an engagement ring. Ideally he should be hitting up his parents for the same contribution. No cheaping out on this one.

Have you called the boys downtown to run a profile on this guy? Sounds like he has a somewhat (possibly) shaky past. I'll bet he was responsible for the chewing gum under the chairs in Ms Snootie's kindergarten class.

My youngest actually got a ring and gave it to a girl in 3rd grade. The parents were concerned and told me and my wife so. Our families had a nice 4 year bond from the event; both are young adults now... but they never got together after elementary scshool

He never tapped it, huh? Wait - after reviewing what you wrote, he may in fact have....in elementary school.

I'm either a bit disappointed in your son or extremely impressed by him. I'll go with the latter - giving you the benefit of the doubt.

I proposed to a girl named Angela Kane when I was 5 years old in Cedar Knolls, NJ.

Angela, if you're out there, my offer still stands.

When I was in my 20's, I got married to a girl from my old neighborhood that I had a crush on way back when I was 8 and she was 7.

We ended up living "happily ever after".

Happily ever after the divorce. :D

Sounds like you may have married Angela from Cedar Knolls.

She was high-maintenance, even in the 1973 Kindergarten sense of the word.
