Wrong. Can't speak for Wilson, but McCourty looks like he is finally putting it together again.

Teams employ entire staffs to evaluate players- threads critiquing players before they have even played a snap are absurd.
Scotty McKnight is really bitter about getting cut

Why throw away the boxscores? Jones through four games has 17 tackles, 3 sacks, 2 FF, and 3 tackles for loss. That doesn't include two sacks that were called back on penalties (one was a BS holding penalty of Spikes). That projects out to 68 tackles, 12 sacks, 8 FFs, and 12 tackles for losses for the season if he keeps up this pace. That is a great season for a seasoned DE.

Jones is currently the clear cut Defensive Rookie of the Year through the first quarter of the year. Pro Football Weekly and ESPN have him ranked as either the 4th or 5th best rookie overall (both offense and defense).

Also, to address the poster who says he only has one move. Obviously he hasn't watched many Pats' game because he has plenty of moves and can rush the passer and set the edge on the run.

McCourty was a huge factor in keeping Larry Fitzgerald to one catch and four yards. He was a stud this past weekend (unfortunately, the safeties were God awful though). Even the the Ravens' game, he had three solid quarters until he screwed up in the last quarter. He looks closer to his rookie season than his 2011 season.

The Pats have played Kevin Kolb, Joe Flacco, Fitzpatrick and Hasselbeck/Locker. IN the only game against a competent QB he was undressed repeatedly by Torrey Smith

You're right. His boxscore is very good. My point was that he has looked even better.

He is a true DE unlike Coples or Wilk who are tweeners.

Well, that's a quarter of the season. They don't exactly play a murderer's row of QBs this year.

He was undressed on two plays by Smith (ok, three if you count the TD where Smith got away with obvious PI on a play that was caused by the Pats giving Flacco forever to throw). That is it (Smith caught 6 balls and only two were credited to McCourty). Unfortunately for him and the plays were at the worst time. Smith killed Arrington and Moore most of that night, not McCourty.

Also, Larry Fitzgerald hasn't had trouble catching the ball from Kolb the last two games, but McCourty pretty much shut him down.

I don't know what the Pats changed as far as their scouting but their drafts have been great the last three years. They are really getting guys who look good and can contribute.

Wish I could say the same about the Jets.

McCourty didn't shut Fitz down, Ken Whisenhunt did. As soon as Arizona got the lead they went into ultra-conservative preserve mode

Fitzgerald hasn't caught so few balls or yards since his rookie season. That is a BS excuse. Fitzgerald didn't catch balls because the Pats took him away. Why would anyone go ultraconservative against the Pats?

And I will remind myself to be impressed when he actually gets those stats. He looked pretty ordinary against the Ravens.

Because Whisenhunt has 0 faith in Kolb and believes in his D. Every game this year whenever the Cardinals get the lead they go vanilla on O and play a field position game where they try not to beat themselves. Sean Smith also did a great job on Fitz last weekend, a lot of that and the McCourty performance is play call and QB related honestly

Based on one good game? Looked positively atrocious two weeks ago.

+1. The Pats' secondary is still the weakest part of the D, but this year McCourty has been far and away the strongest link. I mainly blame Chung, Gregory and Dowling (who should be embarrassed that he can't beat out Moore, let alone Arrington) for the unit's continued problems.

I dont know you can label a guy, good or bad, after only 4 NFL games. Making definitive statements at this point is just silly

Well, Pioli left and Nick Caserio took over and they hired Floyd Reese as a consultant. Those three things are probably the reason. Caserio and Reese took over in 2009 and from 2010 on the drafts have been markedly better.

Every Pats young player who shows anything is ridiculously hyped up. I remember Chung being called up and down a young Rodney Harrison in year 2.

He had that same lack of faith in Kolb last year after a few games and it didn't stop Fitzgerald from getting his. He had the same lack of faith in Kolb against the Eagles' defense and Fitzgerald got NFC Offensive Player of the Week in that game.

Sorry, the Cardinals have very few offensive weapons and even the most vanilla offense wouldn't be drawn up to never go to Larry Fitzgerald.
