Interesting that Coples number hasn't been given yet leading me to wonder once again if something is being worked out for him to get Byrd's #90.

please don't pull a denver broncos and un-retire a number. that's classless. the number was retired for a reason, and it should stay that way. make coples take a different number. we can't always get what we want.

    also, what about terrence ganaway?

Maybe, hope not. Besides, no numbers there for most of their draft picks -- I only see Hill and White listed there.

Byrd's #90 isn't retired...... it has not been given out since he wore it, but it's not retired. That being said, I think it should be retired and I hope they don't give it to Coples.

Here's hoping he makes us forget about the last guy who wore that number.

The Jets aren't exactly the Yankees. There are plenty of numbers to choose from. Leave #90 alone.

Yeah. McKnight has done so much for this organization. I can't believe they would do that.

McKnight will be lucky to make the PS.

Usually if a new player wants another player's number he pays that guy for it. It has nothing to do with the team forcing the guy to give it up.

I am sure Tebow did the right thing.

I also imagine him being a hard guy to say "no" to.

Or players would avoid it like the plague.

It's a shame. Mickey Shuler had once brought honor to that number.

They could always wait until after the 2nd exhibition game when the Jets cut Scotty McKnight I suppose.

#90 is untouchable. Let it go.
