Some readers and twitter followers have been asking about the Jets' off-season dates, so here you go. Note : So far, none of the practices have been designated as open to the public. First, an explanation of the off-season workout rules, per the new CBA :
PHASE TWO :
On Monday, the Jets enter the final week of phase two, which lasts three weeks. Coaches are allowed on the field for player instruction and drills. There is no live contact, no offense vs. defense drills, no one-on-one drills (i.e. pass rusher vs. offensive lineman, receiver vs. cornerback) and no helmets.
PHASE THREE :
On May 22, they begin phase three, which lasts four weeks. This phase includes 10 OTAs (organized team activities) -- a fancy word for a practice session. There is no live contact and no one-on-ones, but there is offense vs. defense. Helmets can be used, but no shells (light shoulder pads).
May 16 -- Media availability.
May 22-24 -- OTAs. Media availability on May 24.
May 29-31 -- OTAs. Media availability on May 31.
June 4-7 -- OTAs. Media availability on June 7.
June 12-14 -- Mandatory minicamp. Media availability.
