I would be a little worried about LaRon Landry, seen this on Twitter before:

Jenny Vrentas ‏@JennyVrentas Not sure if this is a factor in Bell signing, but: LaRon Landry has not been a regular participant in offseason program, source says.

Cutting Smith would save the team $2,050,000 according to Nyjetscap. That savings could allow us to fill another need with a qualified veteran. Maybe Atogwe.

roto just had a similar posting. Wonder if there's doubt whether he'll get on the field at all.

I wanted Leonard. Now the Pats will probably sign him, FMMFL.

according to profootballfocus he was awful last year with a -12.0 and ranked 77th. However in 2010 he was 8th with a 9.4. Which one are we getting?

Yeremiah Bell can still play, I like the signing.

Good insurance for HGH boy Landry and competition for Eric Smith.

He can also help mentor alot of the other young safeties we have - or at least whichever ones stick.

I totally agree. I hope to god we still sign Leonhard. He knows our defense up and down and you're right, he'll probably go to NE if we screw him and give Bill our playbook. Look how bad our passing defense declined as soon as Leonhard got hurt each year. We were terrible after he went out.

Another thing is we have NO proven coverage safeties right now and NE stocked up on good-great receivers. We need to sign Leonhard and Atogwe. If we don't get one of them we're screwed when we play good passing teams like NE.

Achilles is usually a 12 month recovery, the contract the Jets gave him is basically per game so they are covered there but does not help get enough quality safeties on the field.

If one of the other safeties gets let go, they HAVE to bring in Jim Leonhard. Why has the FO been acting like he doesn't exist all offseason- Deangelo Smith??? Yeremiah Bell??? Really???

Landry had to pass a physical for us to sign him to a contract. I've read that just normally doesn't attend voluntary activities.

Do you have a link to this? I must have been looking at a different chart.

Good signing by the Jets. I always liked this guy when he was with the Dolphins. Plays hard, makes plays and is very durable.

Even if this is common for Landry to do this, he should not do it the first year he is with a new team.

There is no "recovery" timeline. he never had the operation. He hurt the ankle in 2010 and has not yet healed. In 2010 he tried platel plasma treatments and in 2011 he tried stem cell treatment.

his refusal to have surgery twice was the reason I wanted the pats to stay away, I thought he just wanted a team to pay him while he recovered.
