Are you serious? An all world CB for a WR?

not with holmes' contract, but we can get rid of that contract in 2 years.

    Holmes for Harvin straight up?

Too bad the Vikings would laugh at that trade.

Probably but its not a crazy idea from the Jets standpoint.

You say you're concerned with his migraines and would pass on acquiring him but you'd be okay trading him straight up for Holmes?

I think he was simply talking about the cap space that trading Revis would provide to re-up Harvin next year. And then draft a #1 CB.

Holmes is a cancer. Id take the migranes if it meant we could get rid of Holmes.

It would be a great idea from the Jets standpoint.

Unfortunately, Holmes has no trade value whatsoever.

Remember, the Steelers unloaded him for a 5th round pick and last year Holmes averaged 3 catches a game for 40 yards.

At this point in their careers, Harvin is 10 times the WR Holmes is.

all 3 of the guys you listed are guys the organization wanted to get rid of...so the value/payment wouldn't quite be comparable to the current situation seeing as the Vikings want to keep Harvin. Maybe if he was in the last year of his deal and they didn't see the franchise tag as a place holder (or it wasn't available) and decided a 2nd or nothing was a good deal, but that's not the case. The original Brandon Marshall trade would likely be more comparable (two 2nds)...

Vikings value him as a 1st (or more), without giving up the 1st outright you start with a package of at least two 2nds...Kerley wouldn't really bring value other than giving them a body.

I got that but you're still subtracting a CB for the purpose of signing a WR. Drafting a #1 CB does not justify that transaction.

Remember, Holmes had an upcoming suspension and was in his final year of his contract. Add to that he was another weed incident away from a year round suspension so the Steelers had no leverage and no intentions of resigning him so they got something for nothing.

You may not be far off in that assessment but I want to see Holmes and Percy's production this year first..

On paper it sounds great but Harvin has chronic migraines that can keep
him out of the lineup for weeks at a time. Add in the fact that he's going
to want big $$$ shortly, I'll pass. He could end up being like John
Abraham an exciting weapon that never plays

this has jets written all over it and as you mentioned they were very very high on Harvin heading into the draft.

depending on what would be needed to grab him i think it's very much worth it for this team.

Jet Nut, I agree completely but we will have paid an average of 13.3 million a year for three years to Revis if he acquiesces to honoring his contract for the upcoming season.

My point about trading Revis next year is that we cannot afford to pay a single player who is not a QB, 15 million a year + under the current salary cap. The salary cap is due to remain stagnant over the next several years. If this team is serious about a Super Bowl rather than having the best CB in football the quality of players around Sanchez and Revis will suffer and this team will go no where.

I will remember this when Holmes takes a slant for 60 yds and wins us a game this year.

All the people here that bashed Holmes better not cheer for him. Hypocrites.
