Here it is:
Sanchez is acting like an SOB, and thatís good.

Harvinís acting like a child, and thatís not.

And Chad is Chad.

Thereís a lot of NFL insanity, "Schein 9" style.

1) The Sparanos

Something went noted talking to Mark Sanchez last week in Florham Park, N.J., at Jets mini-camp. He had an edge. He had an attitude. It was in a good way. It was totally different from any other conversation weíve had since Sanchez became a pro.

Sanchez knows the deal. He didnít play well last year during the Jets collapse. The Jets lacked chemistry. The whispers about Sanchezís leadership were spoken so frequently, they felt like a shout. The Jets smartly traded for Tim Tebow. It is easy, and accurate, to say he represents an upgrade over Brad Smith and Mark Brunell as a wildcat threat and backup quarterback. But this is Timothy Richard Tebow, with the hoopla and scrutiny that come with it.

Enter Tony Sparano.

Rex Ryan likes to say the Jets are a ground-and-pound team. Yet, he let former offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer ruin Christmas, chucking the ball over 60 times with Sanchez in a Christmas Eve loss to the Giants. Sparano shares Rexís vision. He will run, run, and run some more. He will run with the Jets' running backs and absolutely run with Tim Tebow. I asked Sanchez about the pressure and scrutiny of Tebow, especially when Mark throws that inevitable first pick.

Sanchez said: ďCoach Sparano has my back, and I lean on him. I love working with him.Ē

Beautiful.

Sanchez has worked very hard this offseason. He has impressed with his leadership and his play. Sanchez hasnít said anything foolish. Itís early, but heís responded very well to the Tebow trade and Sparanoís coaching.

The Jets defense will be much better this year. If Sanchez can keep his focus and his wits about him, the Jets will bounce back and make the playoffs.
A viable backup makes him change his attitude?

Who coulda thunk it?

Nothing says "franchise" like three years of motivational tricks trying to get a QB to be a leader. :steamin:

Yeah, because every other QB has it all together after his first three years, right?

He was the friggn' #5 overall pick in the draft.

Sanchez is rated in the bottom 3rd of every single QB statistic.

After 53 NFL starts, when do you expect him to do someting?

I know! The Shats were bottom third in defense - when do you expect them to do something other than lose the SuperBowl to the Giants?

SB wins since Sanchez came into the league: Jets 0 NE 0

And that's with the #1 player in the game . . .

I've tried to hold back and just talk sports with you Tx. But Jesus Christ, do you seriously troll EACH and EVERY thread on this site? You're a Patriot troll, on a NY Jets fan site, and you go out of your way to "correct" each and every Jet fans positive perspective on a situation? It's old. We can't even talk up our developing quarterback, have hope in his progression, dream about the future... Without old man PatsFanTx trolling us, telling us how Sanchez sucks, how he's been a bust, how he's ranked at the bottom of every statistical category known to man kind, the Jets suck for letting Burress go (red zone target), the Jets suck for keeping a prime 28 year old WR in Holmes because he's not a #1 option (Whoever the Jets let go they're awsome whoever the Jets kept suck), etc, etc. Jesus ****ing Christ man. Get a life, will ya? Find a wife, can ya? You'd probably ignore them too, just so you can bash the Jets some more.

Gotta love this comeback from Sanchez apologists.

Sanchez is 0-2 in the the biggest 2 games of his life.

If it wasn't for the Jets defense and running game, he'd never be there in the first place.

Haha, what a freaking joke.
About Sporano, he says "He will run, run, and run some more.", because this a "ground-and-pound team". Did I miss a signing this year?
Did we pick up ANY good running backs, outside a draft pick?
Geez, most NFL fans can name the running back for nearly *any* football team in their conference, division, whatever. But not the Jets. No, we have NO FREAKING NAME Shonne Greene.

Ground and pound is sham these guys are trying to stuff down the throat of the ignorant public. I, for one, won't be stupid enough to drink any of that Kool-Aid.

And if it weren't for Belichick and Brady knowing other teams signal calls ala plays coming up, the ***Patriots*** wouldn't have "won" any Super Bowls either. Why did coach Belichick get fined again? For cheating. Why did the New England Patriots lose a first round draft pick? For cheating.

The Patriots got busted 6 years ago (2006) for cheating. They've since WON 0 championships and Brady is 0-2 during the biggest games of his career. Can't beat Eli Manning and can't win a LEGIT super bowl without cheating.

Ironically enough those were his 2 best performances in the playoffs...well, except for the win over the Patriots. His 0-2 in the AFCCGs is due to crappy defense more so than poor QB'ing.

And to answer your question on how long is long enough to see Sanchez start to peak...roughly 1 more season. Remember, he didn't play much in College and came out early. In his first 3 seasons his numbers AND progression compare favorably to Eli Manning who didn't start to play his best ball until 5 full years into his career. It took him over 50 regular season games until he started to complete 60% and have a rating over 80.

You post walls of text of solid NFL posting, and then you write this just to piss off TX? Talk about switching gears.

So I guess you're giving up on Freeman, Flacco, Ryan, etc, right? Probably even moreso since they had WAY more college experience, right? Might as well make it a general rule -- if your QB doesn't produce by year 3, get rid of him, right?

It's truly sad that fans of a "dynasty" can't hold a rational football discussion . . .

anyway.. back to the thread topic -

It's obvious that Sanchez needed a little competition to grow up a little. He's been coddled through 3 seasons, and has never had to worry about his job. That's not to say he hasn't put in the effort (see Jets camp west) but at 25/26 years old he's ready to make a leap from boy to man and behave and act as such. I think the criticism has stung, and he's determined to prove everyone wrong.
