The Academy is made up of like 1000 people, and the average age is like 65.

NOBODY liked The English Patient other than some stuck up artsy type faux-intelligentsia in Hollywood.

If liking a movie was a criteria for an Oscar, Avatar, Titanic and Shrek 2 would have swept a bunch of them.

There were more then just the Academy my friend.....

I knew lots of people that liked it....

It was probably the ONLY film I have ever seen where I looked at my watch multiple times wondering 'when is this POS going to end?'

From start to (never got there fast enough) ending, what a colossal POS. They should have burned Streisand's DGA and SAG cards at the premiere.

It was awful, and I even read the novel.

There are a lot of people that like a lot of crap--I call them the faux-intelligentsia--they get convinced that something is genius and then they don't want to be thought of as not "genius materiel" so they fawn all over it. Kind of like the response to Sofia Coppola's masterpeice Lost in Translation or anything ever done by Terrence Malick.

No matter how epic or universally loved, I despise these three flicks so much that I don't even want to type their titles. They are three of the hokiest pieces of garbage ever lensed. To make matters worse, my wife adores each flick and will watch them every time they're on.

Damn, some classics being trashed in this thread.

I'm glad I don't have an aversion to liking things. Makes life more enjoyable.

    Disagree, loved the hokiness.

So let it be written, so let it be done.

    Napolean Dynamite

A Few Good Men. The overacting was awful.

People hated/hate the first Matrix? Really?

    And someone hates Inception too?

Maybe Sci-Fi isn't for them the same way gangsters ins't for me.

Hating the Matrix Sequels, ok, but the first one? Hating that it was overplayed maybe, that I'd get.

    But outright hate?

    Wow.

I'm a fan. Especially on Arrested Development but liked him in Youth in Revolt and Superbad also. One trick pony though, obviously, the nerdy awkward underdog.

Thanks. Better than Jonah Hill, I guess. But so are scabies.
