They were 16-0 in 2007 and slipped to 14-2 in 2011 dummy..

Clearly a team ripe for the slaughter this year..

Lol, do you even watch "your team", or are you just here to troll? The Patsies finished 13-3, not 14-2.

You're right 13-3... All of these wins just keep piling up.. Hard to keep track.

It's happened before. Patriots may as well just forfeit the playoffs.

With Josh McDanields back, expect the cheating to be on full force.

Worse season in recent memory has been 11-5.

    Oh, the slippage is unbelievable.

For real, anyone who thinks the Pats are on the decline just aren't paying attention.

I have the Patriots rolling to a second undefeated regular season in the past five years.
Careful with this prediction....things happen in the NFL............

This 16-0 stuff is just a way to get people to talk about ESPN. They were saying the same thing last year about the Packers. BTW
I predict Pats go 12-4. (You do realize that as bad as the Pats D was last year, they gave up less points than the Jets D)

Pats defense also forced more turnovers than the Jets and had a better red zone defense as well.

    Total yards means nothing.

With the crap defense about the same and the running game worse with a worse OL and the law firm gone...

The Cheats will win 10-11 if Tammi can throw for 7000 yards...7-9 if she is older and just above average and human...and 2-3 if LORD HEAR OUR PRAYER...she receives a well deserved devastating injury

How is that being a homer?

The last 2 years the Pats have won 13 and 14 games.

With a much better team this year, winning 14 games is a "realistic" expectation going into this season.

Sadly, I have to agree with this. It's not being a homer to think the Patriots could win 14 games. I'd imagine the over/under on wins for them is probably somewhere in the neighborhood of 13 for that matter.

The reality is, the Patriots only real year of regression was 2009, when many of their longtime defensive standouts retired or left. They lost Richard Seymour, Rodney Harrison, Teddy Bruschi, Mike Vrabel, etc. and went 10-6 (if we had a veteran QB THAT would have been the year we won the division -- our defense and running game were elite and Sanchez singlehandedly cost us games.)

Pats have attempted to rebuild on the fly, and while they've done a good job on offense, it's been pretty questionable on defense. Regardless, most of the Pats stud players are relativley young -- only Brady and Wilfork are old timers. That said, obviously the Pats go as Brady goes, and he's much closer to the end of his career than the beginning of it.

Jets fans who think the Pats are regressing (here in 12) are in denial, IMO, but so are Pats fans who think Brady has 5+ years of playing at this level... I think one of these years he'll hit a wall and just won't want to get out of bed or take the hits. While he's hyper competitive, he doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who NEEDS football either. I'd be surprised if he still played at an elite level in 2015.

If the Pats had the Jets defense, they would have won 2 more Superbowls.

If the Jets had Brady they would have gone back to back.

Pats will win 13+ games this year. Undefeated is stupid to call. Every team has a game like the Pats had in Buffalo last year, where every tipped ball goes to the other teams hands, or something similarly odd.

I do think the Jets can split with them.

You mean that great defense that let Tim Tebow drive the entire field for a last minute victory, that defense that allows a TD on a 3rd and 9 from the 1 yard line and that defense that allowed Matt Moore to complete a 23-play, 13 minute drive for a win?

Jets defense is vastly over rated.

How about we use an advanced metric that actually takes into account factors like number of drives faced, field position, etc. like DVOA?

    Jets: 2nd in the league
    Patriots: 30th in the league

Tout your team all you want, but stop pretending the Pats defense can even hold the Jets defense's jock. It makes you sound like a fool.
