No one knows for sure, but popped refers to the sound it makes when it happens.

Usually, it's not a good result.

I'm sad now. I really think Davis has a shot to be the third best linebacker on this team.

I don't consider Rex Ryan the most literal of fellows. "Popped" could mean a lot of things.

If it was something serious and Davis would be missing a significant amount of time, I'm sure Rex would have said it.

Yep, hope it's not too serious

really depends on if pop means pulled, strained, or tweaked

could be anything from a week or two to around a month/month+

Of course it's not a good sign when hearing that our 3rd rounder popped a hammy, especially considering the fact that his game seems to be based off of both explosive speed and power, but at the same time... I'm not willing to over-react to this. We're only three days into training camp. If he's the type of (potential) natural born leader that he's been talked up as being, he won't take this as being a loss and/or slowing down his overall progress/development, but he'll take this as a challenge in order to put 'that much more' time into our defensive playbook while also soaking up as much knowledge (from the sideline) during practice reps of training camp. Can't wait to see a fully healthy Demario Davis take the field.

Heal up that hammy young kid, and we'll see you come preseason, with hopefully lots of knowledge in regards to the MLB/IMLB position(s).
