Why isn't Caleb Schlauderaff involved in the LG competition?

Rex said how he was impressed with his play today and hes the backup center, but he can play OG. The Jets always praise him, but why not give him a shot to win the starting LG position? Yeah we need a backup center, but if hes better than Slauson and Ducasse he would be more valuable starting, plus they could switch him over to center if Mangold went down.

He may be given a chance. Remember his was only the second practice of camp. NOTHING is set in stone yet. He might be fit for the Robert Turner role.

Given how bad we where on BU C last year I'd be putting our best BU there all camp too.

Exactly. Good point. Does an undrafted rookie, who wasn't with the Jets during the offseason, by the name of Baxter ring a bell? (See the Ravens game). Glad to have Caleb Schlauderaff on board.

Personally guard is much less difficult to learn/play then center....id rather him put as much practice into playing center as possible.

I also think the LG "competition"" is not a competition. There is no way in hell vlad is going to beat out slauson. Slauson was ok last year and that was with an injury that is VERY hard on an lineman. This is just a way of giving vlad every single last opportunity to make an impact and see if he should make the roster this year.

Slauson isn't all that great, he might even be tapped out as a player because hes not that physically talented. Who's to say that Vlad doesn't step up and possibly beats him out in a new offensive system? But if Caleb is better than Slauson and Vlad, he should be given a chance to start.
