BTW, you gotta bring the kids to Fantasy Island Amusement Park in Beach Haven--we haven't been there in years since the kids grew up, but when they were little it was the highlight of our stay down there for them.

Might be a dump now, but back in the day it was an absolute must.

Just went there with the kiddies, very clean and kids had a blast. Def do the Ferris wheel with the family. Fridays are wrist band day for the rides. Also going to the Barneget Lighthouse is a fun time... You can fish off the jetty there...

Glad to hear it's still nice and fun. Man, the kids used to go crazy over that place.

    Love the Lighthouse.

Ah yes, I know both places - pretty sure I ate at the first but I'd know it if I pulled up to the place.

Oh yes, that place is a gold mine, so you know they keep it on tip top shape. We regularly drop a ton of $ there every year.

**** no to the ferris wheel...I'm terrified.
Always take a trip to the lighthouse, did some fishing off of it as well.

Took this one morning at Barnegat Light - the lighthouse is in that picture somewhere - and I wasn't even standing that far away.

I kept expecting to see shapes hulking out of that fog...creepy.

No, we've been going down every year since the youngest was barely 2.
We just have to hope for good weather so we don't keep ending up at Fantasy Island

That's the one!...We used to go to Harvey Ceders as well, but we found the food better at Ship Bottom. Now I must add we have not been down to LBI in five years since we got the place out east, I've got plenty of spots there for you.

One of my favorite things to do down there was to go to Kelly's at the lighthouse for breakfast and read about Jets camp with everyone else still home asleep, I did that for years.

Can't recall when it was but I remember a guy jumping off the Long Beach bridge in NJ and landing on a boat.

They usually had spotters there too but obviously somebody screwed up.

Been to both of those.... and Kubel's is the half liquor store where we get all of our booze.

Is that the same bridge you drive over to go to Sandy Hook? If so I can remember as kids sweltering in traffic in our '68 Pontiac as we waited for the drawbridge to close...and all kinds of teens were slamming down cans of Bud right on the bridge, and them just jumping off into the water....freakin' nuts.....

    That's a HUGE bridge.

The bridges over the Shinecock canal aren't that high and boat traffic is a "No Wake" section.

Listen to me rationalizing what we used to do as idiotic teenagers

That's the one. It might have a more official name but I spent a lot of time in Atlantic Highlands as a kid and that's what we called it.
