Benson has had 12 fumbles over the last two years - most of any running back in the NFL. I think we can manage without him.

Shonn Greene ran for 1054 yards behind a poor OLine. We don't need Benson.

Honestly, I'd like to see if Blount gets cut and if he does bring him in. It's worth the risk especially with the depth we have at RB.

I'd rather give Ganaway a shot. The kid ran for 1500 yards at Baylor last year at 240 lbs. Platoon him and Shonn Greene. The pair could just be sledge hammers against opposing defenses.

pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease get a veteran RB in here to spell Shonn Greene. It would help in so many ways and take pressure off so many of the young(unproven) players.

I fully expect Ganaway to keep inactive for most of the first half of the season then come in for the second half and be used like Greene was in 2009.

1st half depth chart will be

    Greene
    McKnight
    Powell

I'd be in favor of bringing him to camp, if he doesn't perform or has attitude issues cut him before the season starts.

the issue and the reason he isn't signed yet is bc he has refused to accept vet minimum. if the jets can work the contract to make it so that we can cut him then sure.

    +1

Not only that but everything I'm hearing out of camp right now has Powell tearing it up and taking snaps with the 1s. Why the hell would the Jets sign Benson and drop players that they drafted who actually have an upside? Makes no sense.

Like I said before, this is Tanny turning over every stone... IE, checking on how much a guy like Benson thinks he's worth so he can use that information later when he's negotiating with an agent. And/Or someone gets hurt in camp or later in the season. They have the numbers now, they have a point of reference in the event they need him.

It's not rocket science, it's the sign of a front office that doesn't sleep and works their butt off.

And Greene has what to do with Benson being productive the past 3 seasons? He said that Benson wasn't productive.

The point was to have two backs, not to replace Greene.

And thats the first 1,000 yard season, not 3 seasons averaging over 1,100 yards.

Benson? you mean the guy who fumbles once per game basically (not really, but Greene didn't lose a fumble at all last season) and who averages less ypc than Greene? This makes zero sense and yet I heard "experts" saying it would be a good fit for the Jets ground and pound. Greene is better.

Greene holds on to the ball, gets first downs and can average over 4 yards per carry. JETS DO NOT NEED BENSON

I know it's been a few years, but this guy ran all over the JETS 2009 D in the playoffs. Played balls out. That performance is hard to forget.

If the JETS really want to ground and pound it and their not just talking out of their asses then it would be stupid not to bring in Cedric Benson. Greene is not durable imo. When he goes down, who is taking over as the in between the tackles guy? As mentioned before Gannaway is a sledge hammer you bring out end of season when one of Benson or Greene is hurting.

Would you guys consider Greene a durable back?

How many RBs are jets allowed on roster?

Could we roster 4? Ced green Mcknight Powell?
