But by the end of this training camp NFL executives league-wide expect their rookie class to have SHOWN ENOUGH to justify their roster spots. If they don't they will be cut. Unless they are first, second or third round picks in which case the investment (and potential loss) is bigger to the team and the team gives them more time.
We the fans expect to see and hear something from a #1 pick, especially a #1 pick who is going up against the 2nd and third string offense during training camp. He is expected have some successes against those units. If he is a pass rusher on passing downs then it cannot be overthinking. It is absolutely reasonable for us to expect to hear good things about Coples during this next few weeks and if we do not start to hear good things with some regularity then at some point before the end of this training camp it is also absolutely reasonable to start drawing conclusions based on the absence of information.
Once again, it is too early right now on August 3rd but there is not unlimited time here before it starts to get to be not too early.
