    Good news!

Hey Southparkcpa! Tarheels are known for basketball ball. I agree we need Coples to become a player for your visit & we as Jets fans!

BRAVO! Many of us are known for saying-----oh, but he is just a rookie--give him a couple of years to develop!

JETS fans need to get a grip and realize that WINNING TEAMS do it differently than we do.

yet they defend management to the end.

Steelers, Giants, PATS do it differently than we do.

How can anyone evaluate a player who hasn't played a single down of NFL football.

And what kind of moron wants help deciding what that player who hasn't played a single down of NFL football will ultimately become?

Don't 32 coaching staffs and their scouts do this annually?

Think Coples would use a fake poll?

Maybe, but only to club you with it.

Call a first round draft pick a bust before they play a single down?

And ask a group of internet posters if they think so?

Only if they're as retarded as some here.

To call Coples a bust is ludicrous. He hasn't even played a down in a PS game. Its it disappointing that we aren't getting reports that he's "flashed", sure. But that's Rex's fault for needlessly creating such high expectations for the kid.

There is also no need to create these comparison's to Gholston. As far as actual production goes, Vernon Gholston might just be among the top 5 worst draft picks in NFL history. We got nothing out of him. Even guys like like Ryan Leaf and the QB the Raiders drafted #1 had at least a couple of good games and wins. DRob was actually a serviceable defensive lineman for 4 years, just not a guy who was worth trading up high to get and pay that much money to,

The rookie salary structure limits a lot of the risk now days for teams. While they might miss on the player, at least they don't also get the crippling cap hit as well

The fact is that we don't know who Coples will be. He's much like Hill in that way. Hill could be the next Calvin Johnson.....or the next Charles Rogers. Most likely he'll fall somewhere in between. Same goes for Coples. He could be the next Julius Peppers....or he could be the next....and fill in the name of a dozen DE's who failed to live up to their hype. Again, most likely he'll fall somewhere in between. Hopefully at the high end of the scale.

Probably the only difference between Coples and Jones right now is the level of expectations going in. And whose fault is that?

Also I would be cautious of getting excited about players getting sacks or looking great too soon. Just because Maybin or Sapp are beating offensive linemen who wouldn't be in camp except for the 90 play limit, doesn't mean they will do it against quality NFL players on game days. Unfortunately when the reporters attribute these sacks, they often don't tell us who they were against. If they are getting these sacks against DBrick and Mangold, then that's another story.

Lets all just take a chill pill and at least see what the next 3 weeks bring before we make such final judgments on a player, let alone the 3 years we really should be taking.

Can we see Coples play a full season first?

Even Mario Williams sucked his first few games in the NFL and now he's a monster.
