That's a pretty good point. I didn't even think of that, to be honest.

That said, if they have a good knowledge of the game and show that they're capable of officiating in the NFL, why should their gender make any difference? I'm all for it.

I would love to cut together an edit of the demeanor of the game and how it's changed since Goodell took office. It's all about appealing to a broader fan base ... Ergo women and children 1st.

How would 22 football players fit in a kitchen?

If women can be corpoarate CEOs and fighter pilots, they can be football refs.
Already being done at the college level. What's so hard? Many are in better shape, I am sure, than some 60 year old fat guy who is reffing.

This is so true. I also believe that a culture need not change because of the inclusion of women. The idea that vulgar, juvenile behavior needs to be curbed if a woman is present defeats the entire argument of equality.

Ummm....its possible that the potential female ref won't be some 120 lb chick wearing heels, but rather a fairly athletic woman who knows the game and can handle herself perfectly well in any sort of dust up - or at least as well as the male refs do now. And as far as her face getting busted up....I care as much about that happening as I did when it happened to the male ref - which is to say, not at all. Me thinks anyone considering being an NFL ref understands, and accepts, the risks associated with the job.

No problem with it. If some 60 year old out of shape fata$$ can be an NFL official no reason why a women can't be one to.

otherwise GTFO, I can't wait till the 1st woman official makes a bad call that costs a team a game. Can you imagine the sh*tstorm that will ensue?

Using female replacement refs only gives the real refs more leverage in the negatiations. Terrible move by the NFL.
Because that never happened before, right?

Women are naturally more fragile than men. Fact.

And we're not talking about f*cking gymnastics or beach volleyball here, we're talking about officiating with no pads or protective gear around 22 behemoths trying to knock eachothers heads off.

    Please.
