It is what it is at this point. You usually do not see many RTs released as camp casualties, at least ones that you would want to start, so I think we are stuck with whats on the roster right now.

    I think you are right.

The only possibility is a trade.

In which case we'll trade a conditional 7th for another Scahlerhaselhoff, or grossly overpay for an aging vet that may be done, or close to done. No team is trading their starting RT, obviously, and we'd have to blow a team away to land a youngish, starting caliber RT.

Is there even one RT we can get for a 4th or less that will be better than what we have (which is not much)?

Guys let's be realistic, we made a low risk high reward move trading for Otah and it didn't work out. No one is gonna release there starting RT, when OL is one of the most important positions in football. The chances of us pulling off a Bryant McKennie signing are slim

Let's just pray Sporano can make Hunter better, or Austin Howard is really Jeremy Lin in disguise...

Jets' Wayne Hunter won't play in preseason opener against Bengals
    Published: Friday, August 10, 2012, 3:00 PM

Right tackle Wayne Hunter is not expected to play in tonight's preseason opened against the Bengals, according to a person with knowledge of his status.

Hunter has been held out with lower back tightness, missing Saturday's Green and White scrimmage and the past week of practice. He'll sit out tonight, too, barring a last-minute change.

Coach Rex Ryan said on Wednesday that Austin Howard would fill in if Hunter is not able to go. The first-team offense is expected to play about 12 to 15 plays, or about a quarter.

Demarrio Davis. He's playing, I believe.

That reason being one's a scrub and the other a less-than-scrub?

There is no question that Hunter was terrible last year. But... remember the year before when he filled in for a few games? He played pretty well and that was why the FO thought they could start him last year. My point is that was proof that he is capable of playing well. So what happened last season? Who knows. At this late stage I can only hope that he goes back to being the person he was 2 years ago. So, maybe, maybe, maybe, we'll be OK. <fingers and toes crossed>
