How many wins does Penny have against the PATS since 2001?

He seems to have not played well when it mattered. How many playoff wins?

Pennington had his limitations. Any team that could get pressure up the middle would keep him from stepping into his throws. I mean his footwork, and follow through had to be absolutely perfect to get the ball down field. It doesn't mean he wasn't one of the best at mentally breaking down a defense. He had to anticipate earlier than any QB in the league. If he had an average arm he would have been dangerous. Perfect coaching material in my opinion. Well he may have to work on being more assertive, so it would depend on who he was coaching, and how willing they were to learn.

It's sad how Jets fans continually bad mouth Pennington but make excuse after excuse for Sanchez.

At least Sanchez is tough and up untill this point miraculously hasn't gotten injured.

That counts for a lot I think.

    I was talking Penny.

Namath has never wanted to be a coach.

He left a playing career for an acting career. It way too late for him as a coach. Also there is much more to coaching than to be knowledgable about the sport. Teaching, correcting, communication are part of the equation, who knows if he's got those qualities just because he can blog?

He only played 1 year in College.

Brees, Rogers, and Manning all took 3+ years to develop.

That'd work for the first 1 or 2 offensive series...

    What would come after that?

Pennington was tough, just severely injury prone.

The guy played half of a season with a torn up shoulder and still had us one Doug Brien FG away from the AFC Championship game.

    Seriously CPA?

The PennyBoyWonder led the Jets to their last AFCE title and last home playoff game.

Do you remember the Sunday night game in late December up in Foxboro with the AFCE title on the line?

    He went 23/33, 285 yards, 3 TD's and 0 INT's for a big Jets win.

Or what about how he played in the Jets playoff win versus the Colts that same year?

    He went 19/25, for 222 yards, 3 TD's and 0 INT's.

Compare that to the "monster" game Sanchez had against the Chargers in '09.

Sanchez goes 12/23, 100 yards, 1 INT. Only reason the Jets won that game was because Kaeding missed 3 easy FG's.

Thanks for bringing that up; I had to listen by radio that night. With everything on the line he had to beat a Belichick defense to prove so much and he came through. Great night to be a Jets fan; Coles was unstoppable.

    Pennington could've been something special.

It's a shame what injuries did to the guy.

If I'm not mistaken, Pennington hit his first 13 passes in a row to start the game.

+1. Curtis Martin and Chad Pennington. Two Great jets that gets tons of hate from this board. If only we had more Jets like them.

Paul Hackett was perfect for Chad; Chad ran a scripted offense really well.

Hackett could fillet a defense with a quality qb like Chad.

Hell, you guys crucified Hackett more than you did Shotty.

Like I have always said, OC's are the easiest scapegoat on any NFL team.

I feel no need to argue further when you've made my own point so clearly for me.

Fans can tin-foil-hat the greedy owner if it makes them feel better about the past or present, but the facts are what they are. Chad and Mangini were not treated badly or unusually here (quite the contray), the NFL is a business, and the time came to part. We parted, because it was best for us, and it wasn't (as implied) personal.

    Just business.
