luckily I haven't had to call 911 often, but it's good to know one of the first things they might ask me is if the situation involves a white or black person.

I didn't get the impression that is was racial.

I think they were trying to get a description b.c the man said he was worried about him coming to the house.

They have to know who to look for.

That was a bit weird, sure.

But I can't believe that it took almost 5 minutes for the guy to finally discern that a car needs to be sent out...especially when the neighbor explained 'domestic abuse' and 'cut on the head requiring stitches' right in the beginning!

I see what you're saying. I thought it was quite early in the conversation compared to what I thought should/would be asked first. but I dunno much about 911 calls thankfully.

It would have been racial if the dispatcher asked the race of the woman as well.

I think the dispatcher handled it perfectly. I think the neighbor handled it very well.

Nobody was frantic. He heard her talking in the background. The neighbor told the dispatcher that she was OK and that it was only a cut. Since she was at the neighbors house and safe the dispute was already over with.

They police have to get a description of the alleged perp. That involves knowing what the color of skin is. He also asked what he was wearing and what car he was driving.

Caller: "I think it was Chad Ochocinco"

    911 Op: "So it's a hispanic male?"

Caller: "Actually, he's Mr. Johnson now"

911 Op: "Oh, is he white or black?"

Is that really the diaglogue? If so, that's best thing I heard all day.

    "So, its a hispanic male?"

"No, he's a football player and he changed his name as he's number 85".

"But wouldn't that make him Chad Ochenta Cinco?"

"Hmmm....I guess you're right. When he calms down, I'll ask him."

Asking the sex and the race of the person narrows the field drastically. I think it is a totally legit question.

ie. "Man wearing jeans, and a green shirt" is a lot more vague than "Chinese man, wearing jeans and a green shirt".

Florentine doesn't make enough money. And he's a Jersey guy, so he lives around here.
