Obviously, we want to see a body of work from Coples -- consistency and growth. But the guy is blatantly strong, explosive, and shows some relentlessness in attack. He'll get smarter, but he has the physical tools and the aggressiveness. He's light years from what Gholston showed. Gholston was strong and that was it. I'm wagering he'll be a potent DL for the Jets for years to come....
Exactly. His first couple of snaps he looked very nervous, almost as if he didn't want to mess up. His instincts are good enough that him over thinking isn't detrimental to plays, which is a ****ing amazing sign, when the game slows down for this kid he's going to be special
Wilk is and will always be the typical work horse... Coples is going be the weapon
And for clarification I didn't like when we picked Coples, but he's (so far) proving me wrong
If there weren't people who questioned his passion last year no one would be writing this about his first game in the NFL.
Coples will be beasting for us all year. And for those who question his stamina/conditioning, what D lineman is prepared to play a whole NFL game after 2 weeks of training camp? Starters don't play into the 3rd quarter until the 3rd preseason game for a reason, to ramp up their conditioning over several weeks of camp. The coaches were simply baptizing Q in his first game. Sorta like what legend has Parcell's did to Curtis Martin in his first preseason game, giving him the rock so many times in a row until he was sucking wind. Q is gonna be a baller.
