We've just learned that director Tony Scott was diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer, shortly before he took his own life. Rest in peace, Mr. Scott.
Wow, that is awful awful news.

When my wife got sick, as bad as it was, as far reaching in her body that it spread, the one place that would have caused her to take her own life would have been the brain.

She could deal with it in the breasts, lungs, bones, liver, ovaries, uterous, lungs, heart, could fight ALL of that.

She was always mortifyingly afraid that it would go to her brain--even thought she was assured that it likely wouldn't due to the blood/brain barrier--she would cry herself to sleep worrying that the blackness of cancer would somehow invade her mind.

    Geezus, RIP.

Thanks for the update. Having watched my uncle and brother-in-law go out via inoperable brain cancer, I get why Tony Scott decided to end it on his terms. Don't know if I'd have the balls, but I would take my life rather than go through the horrors of brain cancer.

IN ONE HAND IS A SIGN WHICH READS, "WAYNE HUNTER IS A F**KING EMBARRASSMENT". IN THE OTHER IS A PLACARD READING, "WHY WAS 32GREEN MADE A MOD? SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN THIS S HIT TO ME."

SCOTT: (VOCIFEROUSLY AND WITH CALM, YET CRESTFALLEN, RANCOR) "...F**K me if I will watch that talentless POS ruin another season. And, after I rented out a suite at the Bel Age and laid out that incredible spread for a f**king Jet pre-season game. Carving stations with steamships of beef, omelette bar, plus top shelf booze, to boot. Nice friggin' joke.

But, I should have known better, with these friggin' Jets. One, year. One goddam year would it kill Woody and the rest of those front office putzes and scrub jackoff "players" to provide me with one iota of success--and I won't even start about a semblance of happiness or professional aplomb--without the annual issues issues like sticking a no talent, "ham & egger" offensive lineman as a starter? Are you f**king kidding me? Hunter belongs on in a Saskatchewan-based logging camp cleaning latrines.

And don't get me started on Sanchez. That dickhead is like a pick six machine. Next time, f**k-o, finish your time at USC. You suck.

AS VOICE TRAILS OFF, PULL OUT TO WIDE SHOT OF BRIDGE WHERE WE SEE A LONE MALE FIGURE JUMPING AND HURTLING TOWARD THE CALM WATER BELOW. THEN CLOSE UP OF MAN'S HANDS IN DOUBLE BIRD SALUTE.

    FADE OUT.

They just finished a massive project to update and paint the bridge. No lie, it's a dark Jet-green color....the entire thing.

A very good friend of mine got diagnosed with lung and brain cancer last year on June 1st. A week earlier, he had no ideas he was sick until his vision started to get screwed up and he went to the doc.

He was dead 12 days later. Incredibly sad. I only got to talk to him one time after the diagnosis because he deteriorated so quickly.

    Loved Crimson Tide.

And as a guilty pleasure, The Last Boy Scout is one of those movies I can never turn off.

    Amazing.

Same thing; Guy I worked with, good friend, calls in sick with a headache.

Four days later I visited him in the Hospital, and he's clearly loopy and doesnt really know me...then two days later....gone.

    Brain cancer.

Looks like Dolphin's aqua. Especially with the palm trees.

Looks like a pretty high fence spans that entire bridge, so sad.

It does. I'll be cruising over it tomorrow afternoon and will take a closer look. I'm surprised that anyone could get up and over it. You'd think it would be protected and very difficult to do, but I don't recall there being anything like barbed wire, etc. at the top.

Agreed whole heartedly. Another brilliant popcorn or on-cable flick.

Look at the dudes resume, he made some brilliantly entertaining crap.

And I mean that in the most complimentary way possible, films like Big Macs, enjoyable, filling and satisfying without the hand-wringing critical debate over if the orange-ish creamy stuff on top is "sauce", "salsa" or "gravy".

ARIZONA MAN SAVED ON THOMAS BRIDGE

    By Jay Mohr

In an eerie near-repeat of the events that took director Tony Scott's life two days earlier, an Arizona resident was rescued by Police as he scaled a fence on the Thomas Bridge this morning.

Described as ranting "No no...I"m doing this for the Hampur!!!", the unidentified man was taken to LA General Hospital for observation.

Investigator: "Okay Doc, what do we got here?"

Doctor: "He mumbled something about 'TJ Conley not being able to punt over this bridge' then started to laugh hysterically as he shook the fence and said, 'What are ya gonna do, band-aid me from the bridge?"
