Mortensen says we're trying to replace Hunter

    Chris Mortensen ‏@mortreport
RT @Off_White_THE: Are the #jets looking at any FAs or trades to replace Wayne Hunter at RT? >> Yes. No longer in denial #NFL32

So is it going to be a washed up vet or some young guy no one's ever heard of?

Or do we hope the QBs can make it through another week and wait for camp cuts next week?

If Tanny reads JI then it has to be the latter. Everyone here knows that trading picks for a player, no matter how badly needed, ruins the future.

IF the Jets signed someone, he would not start on Sunday vs. Carolina (unless Hunter and his new contract are dumped by the Jets)

Tannenbaum says fans should anticipate Labor Day weekend to be "a mini-draft for us." So, #Jets roster far from finalized.

If any good came out of Saturday this would be it. I don't think the front office would have gotten their asses moving on finding a replacement RT without the Giants crushing us.

SO EXCITED to see who they might bring in.

Maybe the Packers will cut Aaron Rodgers.

Hope they pull something off, but in the meantime Austin Howard should be getting reps with the #1's. I find it hard to believe that he could be any worse. Put Wilkerson over him and let him get his feet wet, maybe he can hold down the fort this season.

I realize they're not gonna get an all-pro but at this point I'll take anything.

If he said that its an indictment on his drafting and personnel decisions.

And Wayne Hunter doesn't need to be cut anyhow. He could probably make a serviceable backup at Guard.

There are some teams that are loaded and will be cutting players that can be useful.

If Tanny didnt blow the ducasse pick, wed have a 2nd round RT talent on the roster.

Wow, deciding to replace the starting RT 2 weeks before the season when they could've done that in March.

If Rex actually cared about the offense rather than his precious defense who knows what might have happened.

Hunter can go back to his ideal position: a 6th lineman in tackle-eligible/jumbo sets
they never should have waited this long to address the RT issue. Denial is the only word you can use.

Glad you finally figured that out

a good start would be by signing ANY offensive player the giants, pats, steelers, or packers cut. this abortion of an offense needs all the help it can get.

I have to think it's denial and also an errant belief that some opportunity was going to pop up and present itself. I don't disagree with doing something like that, but clearly it's the front office's duty to understand what's going on in the market [for OT] and adjust plans accordingly. On this measure, we seem to have been badly caught out.

    Umm, not neccessarily...

It means that he only had 7 picks in the last draft, and so many players available in FA, and because of the number of players that will become available over that weekend, there is a new player pool to pick up players from, and quite probably players the team either scouted for the draft, or have targeted in FA.

OK, so the entire board is b*tching non stop 24 hours that the FO needs to do something to step up and replace Hunter in some way. Now the news breaks that the Jets are in fact actively trying to replace Hunter, and you still sit there and b*itch about it?
