Does a great game against the Panthers cure all?

So if we come out of the Panthers game with...

    • The offense scoring 3-4 touchdowns
    • No sacks allowed on our QB
    • Our QB having a confident high 60's completion percentage and zero turnovers
    • Decent running game numbers
    • No Injuries
    • No Shanked punts
    • The first team defense playing shut down ball

Does that cure what ails this franchise and its fan base?

I think its more of a cough drop than a cure all ... opening the regular season at least 2-2 might do the trick though.

It means nothing just like the first two did.. I'm with Warfish wake me when the season starts.. The only way to get the chicken little brigade to say the preseason is meaningless is for the Jets to do well in it..

    Feankly, no.

The Panthers were a lucky 6-10 due to Cam Newton and their defense was ranked #27.

Those numbers you posted are what should be expected in 3 quarters from the starting offense against that 2-14 caliber defense.

It would be nice to get a little confidence in our offense. The preseason basically means jack sh!t....BUT, you want to see something, anything, to give you a little confidence.

I think the Jets have purposefully not rolled out their true offense, and I think that's a good thing, but I'd just like to see one completed drive where the starting offense is able to assert their will on the defense. While they've been inconsistent throughout Sanchez's tenure here, there have always been times where the Offense appears dominant for a short period of time. Just want to make sure we still have that going into the season - as little as that really means.

It would also be good to see Hunter settle down and have an uneventful game. For his own confidence more than anything. His performance was so atrocious on Saturday, anything positive will likely be overblown.

    No not at all.

The pre season means nothing. I've been here to see undefeated preseasons that led to crappy seasons. All we can do is wait and see. I and many of us don't see it, but in about two weeks we will know how good or bad the JETS are. Would be nice to see the line actually block and receivers get open deep at least once. Time will tell.

I can't see where 1 game is gonna get everyone back from the ledge. If we can see it consistently for a few games, then maybe.

I havent given up on the season based upon the Giants debacle, but I think we all know that going forward, a strong performance by the O-line would be HUGE, as I believe the other pieces will fall into place one way or the other.

No. Every dog has its day. It will matter what happens come the start of the season. Right now if we can get out of the first five games at 2-3, people should do backflips.

A Win against the Bills Week 1 will cure all

Until at least Week 4 if not Week 5.

If you beat Buffalo, you're starting 2-1. San Fran, like Pittsburgh, is another expected loss so it could take a Week 5 loss to Houston to make people go into full on panic mode again, then again maybe it wouldn't. Maybe a Week 6 loss would.

A lot is hinging on Week 1.

If the Jets starting offense can score 3 TDs in the 1st half I will be shocked and very happy. I hope it happens. The offense needs to get some swagger. How about Greene with some big runs. How about a deep pass to Hill for TD. Yes, I believe it is a cure all. They Still need a RT and blocking TE no matter what though.

No. It is the pre season. Only the bad things count.

Even if that performance was in a meaningful regular season game there would be numerous posters on here finding something to whine about..

Of course not. Don't you know the routine by now? If the Jets stink in
PRE-SEASON that means the season is over before it starts and everyone
should be fired. If the Jets play well in the PRE-SEASON it doesn't matter
because PRE-SEASON doesn't count and they were playing against a bunch
of players who were going to end up at UPS

All I care about at this point is to limit the injuries and get everyone back to being healthy before game 1.

I agree. I think if we don't do REALLY well against them then we do have a legitimate panic on our hands, especially if we can't stop a vanilla pass rush once again.
