Taking Sopne to College tomorrow *****es...

...and will thus be eating bologna sandwiches for the next four years

My son will be starting his freshman year at Franklin & Marshall, joining my daughter who is entering her junior year at University of Rhode Island. This makes the wife and I empty nesters and empty pocketers! Woot

All kidding aside I am very happy.

Congratulations, exciting times for him. I was just thinking the other day that I started college 10 years ago. It goes way too fast.

Congrats. It will be so strange not to have him in the house.

My sopne was always an average student. He entered college with no real direction and got average grades.

Then a couple of years ago, he came to me and said he knew what he wanted to do. He said he wanted to switch majors to mechanical engineering. It basically meant starting college over at 21. Amazingly, he started getting the best grades of his life by far and now he is entering his junior year.

He went to school locally for the last two years but I take him up to college next Thursday. I'm happy for him but I hate knowing he isn't going to be around.

Great school, played Rugby against them a few times back when I was in college. Beautiful campus... Good luck!!

I'm very happy about the school, #4 most rigorous program, #1 in post grad and career support, hopefully his hard work will pay off.

    Congrats JW.

Now you and the wife can finally do all the things you've been wanting to do, but couldn't because someone was in the house. :wink wink:

Congrats JW. My only regret was going to big time college or at least not commuting to college. He's going to have a blast.

Good for him. The engineering major nearly broke me as a 18 y.o. freshman; the workload and course material was so overwhelming. I stayed with it and after a disastrous start I got very good grades. He'll be better off for having started it with some maturity under his belt.
