You might want to re-read the text. Supposedly Rex told Coples to be at PRACTICE and Coples took it upon himself to go to the leadership event despite of this.

Not uncommon in any business to sent their employees and manager's to a leadership conference. In fact, it's probably the norm. I applaud the Jet's for this move.

Thanks! The comment 100% dealt with coples possibly going agaisnt what he was told by the HC. While it would be valuable for him to go, if Rex told him not to and he did....thats very bad

I think it is a good thing for Rex to do with the players....
Its a great thing for OFF SEASON. We need reps at what we do! The offense has been a bit off key. Perhaps more reps would be beneficial.

Good move by the Jets, I wish Harris would've been able to attend.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. All we keep hearing is how they need more reps to develop timing and smooth out communication.

    Head scratcher for me.

    Leaders are born, not made.

Can't force these things. They have to happen naturally.

    Wrong

Leaders CAN be born with natural qualities and attributes. Leaders can also be developed.

It was a team building exercise not leadership workshop. This is to address the locker room problems from last year. It couldn't hurt.

Don't worry. He is the only person on the team that doesn't need leadership training.

We've had similar dialogs about leadership in the past but I tell you again:

the military builds leaders every day, especially the Corps (ok I'm prejudiced.) We would truly be up sh!t creek if we had to wait around for our leaders to be born, in every part of life from business to education to everything.

Besides, if training just wakes up someone's natural instincts for leadership we are way ahead of the game.

VERY untrue. Leaders are made. Giving people the opportunity to be a leader, and then having them learn, through experience and guidance, builds a leader.

Unless you are Chuck Norris. He was born a leader. Actually, Chuck Norris has always existed...
