After watching the Eagles game, Dixon and Richardson had pretty poor games against #2's and #3's. That may have been the nail in the coffin.

Mentioned this, although the entire DL/LB's were bad.

Wow - I find that odd given how many teams could use a DL. Maybe Jets fans overestimate one of our own ?

In other words, it was a horrible draft pick. A mistake.
Is there a new regime in Oakland this year, from last year. Reggie Mckenzie (GM runs the organization) and Dennis allen is the coach. What the last regime(al davis) did and the type of players he looked for in his defense , (strictly man to man Cb's)doesn't apply as it a totally different defense they play now. (they play a wide variety of coverage now and it's a different type of Cb they are looking for. Why S Routt there best man to man CB was let go. (was a poor fit in the new defense)

Sure it was a wasted pick but that what happens when the scheme changes radically. These things occur. Still Raiders defense will be better off for it.(going to surprise alot of people how good this defense is)

Could be the guaranteed money issue and teams would rather wait until after the first game.

I Don't think so. Your not talking about a veteran with a big salary. There isn't much a difference what a NFL minimum salary player getting, and what Marcus dixon making. He probably going to have to wait till some Dlineman gets injured.

Has nothing to do with a big salary.

It has to do with guaranteeing money you don't have to guarantee.

Gives the team more flexibility throughout the season.

The #Jets are trying out former Houston Texans LB/DE @djbryant13 per @RavensInsider. He played college football at James Madison University.

    DJ Bryant

    http://www.profootballweekly.com/pro...d-j-bryant-13/

Positives: Somewhat athletic college pass rusher who has flashed skill the past three seasons. Displays solid movement skills, fluid if asked to twist or stunt and fast getting out to the sidelines to chase the action. Keeps his feet moving on contact, displays a good closing burst to the action and can bend off the edge then collapse down the line. Plays with leverage, keeps his pads low and displays the ability to make plays in space.

Negatives: Lacks bulk and is easily controlled at the point of attack. Possesses more of a short burst of speed that he cannot sustain.

Analysis: Bryant has displayed flashes of pass rushing skill the past two seasons and may have a spot at the next level as a pass rush specialist standing up over tackle or out of a three-point stance.

    Projection: FA

Marcus Dixon salary what 550,000 right for 2012 if someone picked him up on waivers. ( probably team can get him for 450,000 now For 2012), the NFL minimum base salary for a rookie player is $375,000. For a player with 1 year of experience, the minimum base salary is $450,000.

So if your a team that needs a DE/DT and that player can play in a rotation on your Dline what is the big deal about 450,000 when your going to have to fill that last spot with a guy that has to make 375,000. (75,000 difference) If he's as good as Jet fans think he is, teams would have no problem guarantee that money.

Now if you miss on the player(he sucks) and have to eat his salary . YEs your on the books for that whole 450,000 + 375,000 you need to sign a replacement at a minimum.
The point is an NFL FO should know if the guy is good enough to play in their rotation. (better to get him now than to lose out and get a lesser player )

Also if your FO/owner pinching money like that you have to question if they should be in the NFl.

Again, why guarantee a salary when you can wait one week and not guarantee it?

Just seems to make sense. Especially when your team is deep at the position.

    You're making this too hard.

I think DL from Rex' system are viewed like WRs from the Pats. Idk if the translate to a regular defense well.

I saw an interesting interview with Bill Polian on SC today. He said GM's are busy this week preparing a "replacement" list of players in case of injuries and to expect a lot of veteran signings after week 1 when their contracts are not guaranteed. I can definitely see some Jets moves this week including a possible trade for RB or WR. Bryant may be the first signing if Sapp doesn't show progress asap. We still have holes in RB and WR

Yep, Jets may continue to bring in players the next two weeks since there may be more cuts from other teams..

Plus there are still some veteran free agents available that they might think will help the team.

David Garrard released. Bryant McKinnie restructured. The reason is teams have to be under the cap by 4 p.m. eastern

Brian Costello saying that Conley was waived. Who's out there, McBriar maybe?
