Thumbs up GRADE: Replacement Ref Crew: Bills @ Jets

I thought they did fine. The placement on that pass was maybe a yard short of where he went out of bounds, and the holding call on Mangold seemed off, but I didnt see any glaring errors.

Borderline holding calls are irrlevent. I wouldn't have even been surprised if they overruled the fumble by the Bills receiver because it was close.

If there wasn't so much media coverage, I wouldn't have even noticed the refs.

The ref was f*cking blind and clearly blew the spot on that sideline pass to Kerley.

Also, a horrible no call when Cro was ready to pick off that pass and the WR was hangin all over him.

Other than that, yes, I do think they did well.

I thought the spot for Kerley was correct. The ref was standing right there a few feet away and had the perfect view. It's where the ball goes out of bounds and Kerley seemed to move it after he was across the sideline.

My only problem was with a couple of the booth reviews - but I can't pin that on the replacements.

I'm more concerned that refs are now seeming to review everything. Some of this is a league mandate - TD's and turnovers I believe have to be reviewed. That does nothing but slow things down and disrupt the rhythm of the game. Furthermore was there even one play overturned today ?

It's a trend that I'd like to see less of.

Am I the only one who thought Sanchez's INT was out of bounds?

Seemed like there were less cameras for this broadcast and therefore there were less angles to use for review. Makes you wonder, does the NFL mandate the number of cameras for a game? And if they don't, why not?

I also thought that Sanchez interception was out of bounds.

Pretty much agree here. Outside of this, I really wasn't too upset with the officiating.

I think the coaches are having a bit of a problem as there isn't the rapport they usually have with the regular refs.

Agree with the C rating. Can't figure out why they didn't seem to get any of the sideline marks right. Seemed like they didn't have a clue where the line of scrimmage was.

The key is whether you noticed them as being replacement or not. And i didn't notice a difference (except maybe a couple of calls weren't described 100% properly). Any of their mistakes were the types of mistakes you see during a game officiated by the regular refs.

Sanchez's INT was def out of bounds....and my drunk self can't recall the other bad booth review...but overall...I understand the calls...

I will take those borderline reviews over the constant pass interference and roughing the qb calls the regular refs make all day, every day.

    B.

They did just fine. I didn't notice any difference between them and the "regular" refs.

B+ - they didn't penalize the Jets for Cromartie's somersault into the end zone

Sanchez's INT was pretty clearcut. He got both feet in

    The Kerley spot was bad.

Replacement refs are doing horribly so far in the Packers-Niners game, they were probably a solid B in ours

My impression was that the referree crew had less of an impact on the game than I am used to. Agreed on the following:

    1. Kerley got a bad spot.
    2. Should have been offensive PI on the guy grappling Cro.
    3. Mangold got phantom holding call.

That said, I just had a general feeling the the players drive the game instead of the refs.
