I wonder if the 47 % of victims that Romney was talking about included those receiving corporate welfare from the government, banks receiving bailouts and the oil companies with their 1.58 trillion dollar active tax credit.
    Doubt it.

Romney has shown his true colors.
This guy should be in a room full of guys in smoking jackets puffing on cohibas and drinking cognac in $5000 glasses while talking about flying their private jet to their weekend home in the French Riviera. He should not be running for president.

According to Mitt and his peeps...a married couple with two children, with the guy making $13/hr and the wife staying at home (because daycare costs are outrageous) are scum.

    Lowlife handout seeking scum.

I would argue that almost every high school system includes a tech/trade school which would prepare your average student for a job. The government should stay out of redistribution and selecting winners and losers because it had a horrible track record in every attempt at doing so.

I am talking about this on both sides of the equation. It should be stopped both on the corporate as well as personal hand outs except to the disabled individuals. Also limited SSI to keep people on their feet if they lose a job should be self sustaining INSURANCE not propped up with additional tax dollars.

Also i read where many who do not pay income taxes are senior citizens.....Again many who worked and paid taxes for most of their lives, paid into medicare and social security and now since SS is not taxed for many of them, they fall into the horrible 47% who do not pay Federal income tax.......Dirty Govenment victim entitled scum i guess.....

When I went to school they had a trade concentration that students could do.
A variety of potential careers. For both males and females. This was available when my children were is HS as well. Yes, it is a valuable training program. So instead of chemistry, physics, calculus, foreign language etc - trade courses were taken. Some at the school, some at a nearby votech. English, math and history minimum requirements still needed to be satisfied.
In many cases jobs were ready for these students on graduation. Never going to be a bank president but run theoir own auto shop, plumbing company or a variety of options.

PK, you need to be more specific. Where does 18.1% come from. Missed it.
    I know 47% - those not paying.

Selecting winners and losers is something else entirely, and far more complicated, but safe to say, I rarely support it.

Redistribution, imo, is a fundamental necessity of democratic government. It's about degrees. I don't want the French socialist model, and clearly not the communist model. But perhaps the model of America in the 40's, 50's and 60's or the German/Canadian model of today make sense.

Here's a newsflash for you. Social security is taxed. Up to 85% of the benefits payed are subject to federal tax.
Some seniors do not pay tax because they no longer have any income except SS. They did pay once though.
However, if they do pay no tax I do not think they are entitled to a refund either.
Most older people are not lowlifes. They are usually not trying to job the system. That falls to the employable lazy trash.

Some Republicans and Conservatives like to live in a fantasy world where 47% of working age Americans are welfare queens who sit around and do nothing but leech off the government and tax payers.

It's simply false. A significant percentage of people paying no federal income tax are working Americans making less than the national median salary (~$26K / year) and using deductions such as child credits and mortgage interest to eliminate their federal income tax liability. These people are subject to a slew of other taxes both consumption and employment based. They are not your prototypical government leechers, who do exist, but in much lower percentages.

The only way to accurately describe this mentality is class warfare based on falsehoods.

The true question is whether Romney truly believes what he stated or was he pandering to his audience in what he thought was a private conversation.

Yeah, unfortunately these vocational programs have been cut out of many public schools. They were very costly and seen by elite scum as expendable, so they were a victim of budget cuts.

It's always entertaining seeing an elite 1%'er express Class Envy-by-Proxy so clearly and concisely.

Ken is all for the elite.....as long as they are HIS kind of elite.

My fear is that Romney's failure in this election will allow the far-right to strengthen their grip on the republican party even further. That is a problem because, sadly, big money will only allow two major parties thus our realistic choices are limited.

The some that do not pay taxes because they only have SS income are part of the 47% that Romney talks about.....

I applaud Romney's honesty and bluntness.

Plus EVERYTHING he says is twisted by the extreme libtard media anyways, so he might was well put it out there.

Vo Tech in my county is strong and has actually grown to include Veterinary and Computer tech skills among other skills that actually relate to a real job.

Getting a refund doesn't mean you still didn't pay federal income taxes...it just means you paid too much and got some of it back. I think that's a different group than the "pays no taxes" group, but I could be mistaken. I'm not sure what the percentage of the former and the percentage of the latter is.
