    RIP Steve

The Sabol's sideline films along with Facenda's commanding voice helped make the NFL the number 1 sport in America in the late 60's.

Thought their SB 3 film was totally biased, giving little credit to a great Jets team, and Namath for calling a brilliant game.

Still think their 1981 "Talk Of The Town" Jets season film was the best Jet video ever. It might have been the last year Fancenda did each teams season video.

You don't want some schmuck like Chris Collinsworth trying to narrate Steve S's life. Chris Berman might be good, though. He's have some sort of goofy nickname and get all boisterous at points though. I can picture when the film got towards the end of his life, Chris would get loud and say something like "Bumblin, Stumblin, HE COULD GO....oh." Make it happen NFL.
You know, you might be on to something. Imagine the funeral procession cruising along to this music:

Thanks to Steve Sabol, it went from being a backyard tusslin' in the mud to a combination of highly strategized ground warfare, and a Greek epic the likes of which haven't been seen since Homer put feather quill to parchment.

This is a question for some of the guys older than me (I'm 30)

What was it like to see this stuff -- the slow-motion, the locker room footage, the coaches mic'd up -- before that was common practice?

I've never known the game any other way, and I think many people my age and younger take for granted the unimpeded access NFL Films crews get these days.

RIP Steve. I always loved the humor he displayed on film. One of the really nice guys in this world.

Made the NFL a reality show way back when

LOL. PB, you have brought back some great (?) memories with that film (lol). The Jets I thought had a chance to win that game, but as you saw, Early Thomas was late again.

I always hated the Orange Bowl. The seats had no backs. So at the end of the game, sh1t by the end of the 1st Qtr your back was killing you

I think that show used to come on Saturdays on ch 9 or ch 11. I made sure that I was home to catch it.

    Thanks
