Shame. Last weekend we caught 3 of them, 2 had the sores and we threw them back. Yours doesn't look too bad but the disease can pass to humans.

    Great catch though.
You know I didn't even notice it until you pointed it out. That Mycobacteria is bad stuff. Supposedly 75% of the Chesapeake resident bass have it.

The only fish I ever kept was a huge rainbow trout - because I didnt have a camera, so I needed proof that I actually caught it.

Too bad the taxidermist was a hack, it looks nothing like the fish I caught.

They are so cool looking. I've seen some big ones in the freshwater canals around Homestead.

Oh, except you can't catch rainbow trout in Long Island Sound. Sea bass, yes. Leprosy, yes. Rainbow trout, no.

This was actually in the Big Cypress nature preserve, if you from around the Homestead area, then I am sure you know where Big Cypress is.

Whats really wild is the first time you put your hands on one, it's like grabbing a piece of armor, those gar are just so tough and super-strong....

Well, I guess I have been lucky to some degree, that I have a father that exposed me to fishing at a very young age. Thanks to him, I have pretty much had a life full of fishing - freshwater, saltwater it doesn't matter, anywhere I can toss a line in, I'm game.
