In the 90+ heat...guess Jets want to be sure they have enough corners for the game. Has Lankster been ruled out? I do think Trufant is going to play.

I see McIntyre now having a big opportunity to step up and get more playing time. That 2 sack performance may have opened Rex-Pettine's eyes to the possibilities of McIntyre having a big role as rush OLB...and in other situations. And he has better size for run defense then Maybin.

The speedy Demario Davis, may also be a beneficiary of increased playing time. If these two impress...BT may not come back. It's not necessary a guarantee this happens. you still have veterans like Harris-Pace-Scott to get lots of playing time. If one of these three should be out a while with an injury...I definately see the possibility of BT coming back.

    Just speculating here.

There are no guarantees... But I'd say it is almost a lock that Bryan Thomas will be back with the Jets next week. #nyj

It's not going to be that hot, it's going to be overcast. It'll be humid and sticky but not super hot

    Smile Hustle!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have to give the guy credit for always hustling!!! I remember numerous times where he had to take off down the field to take a guy down because of mistackling by our secondary. He always gave his best!!!!!!!!!!!

Doubt it. If he were cut before week 1, I'd say yeah but he's a vet and he's been cut. He's going to get paid his full salary. It wouldn't make sense for them to bring him back because they already have to pay him for this year.

I hope so. That will save us a lot of money, and open some cap room. They'd have to pay him a lot to make it worth it. All the people complaining about us having the oldest defense now should be happy that we probably now have one of the youngest defenses.

Well wouldnt that be a reason to bring him back? If they have to pay him anyway, wouldnt it make sense to bring him back when healthy?

Yep, I call it one of the wasted periods of the Jets. Started with DROB, picking Vilma over Wilfork and letting Abraham walk. Three drafts wasted under Bradway which required another 3 years to rebuild. All because DROB who at the time knew about his bad knees..

Goodbye Bryan Thomas - the longest tenured Jet. You will be missed.

I was hoping he would get back on the field this week, but, apparently not.

Lankster didn't practice Thursday or Friday and is listed as questionable, Trufant has practiced in full the last 3 days, listed as probable and will play and....

Jets signed CB Donnie Fletcher off the team's practice squad.
Fletcher takes the roster spot vacated by the release of OLB Bryan Thomas. Fletcher was signed in May as an undrafted free agent out of Boston College. He will be limited to a special teams role.

I believe they have to bring him back on a new contract. That means another vet min salary at least if I'm not mistaken... someone might clarify that but I don't think he plays on his old contract and any new contract with have to include new money.

While I like Bryan Thomas the same way I loved Marvin Jones and Mo Lewis, we made a mistake back then by allowing James Farrior to leave because the organization put the money into the older veterans. They broke down, got slow, and we were looking for LB's again. So with that being said, I do not fault the organization for letting him go now and seeing what we have in some of these younger guy's.

Not that surprised given his age and the injury he was coming back from. And not that he was playing all that great before he was injured last season. Thomas was getting up there in age.

Really wish the Jets had made this move at final cuts. It's just wasted cap space that could have gone to another player (preferably some young guy).

John Abraham was responsible for his best years. He had no pass rush skills and should have never been around this long.

BT might get signed. Remember, that's how we picked up Trevor Pryce from the Ravens. When healthy, he is good against the run and setting the edge. Our perimeter defense took a major hit when he went out last year. IIRC, we had trouble with outside runs.

This year we were already burned by Spiller, and we have Bush this weekend. We don't seem to have an answer to speed backs and TEs yet, and an overall lack of speed at the LB position
