    or

Go all out and possibly get hurt. He will not get paid at all.

Could be a 3rd scenario where he does not care for the game anymore and retires. Which would mean if he decides to come back 2 years later. The Jets may still own his rights due to that 4 year clause.

The Jets are in the drivers seat. He is going to want to get as much from the Jet's this off season to not have to worry about any of the above. They will know if the knee is right since their doctors will be looking at it all this season and next off season. If he gets a clean bill of health. The Jets will re-up him.

So people like Cimini are morons and do not look at the big picture.
JMO No the Jets are not in the driver seat with D Revis. Here is the dilemma for the Jets. D Revis if not signed during the 2013 season he becomes a unrestricted FA(that Jets can't put the franchise tag on) . He almost certain to be gone. All the Jets are looking at is 2015 3rd round draft pick(which really a fourth rounder for Revis.

The Jets have to take care of Revis by next offseason. That contract will be huge. So many players have had this type of injury that it save to assume he will come back just as good as he was. (He blew out his achilles that would be a tougher injury than the ACL to come back from)

Also How the Jets defense play in 2012 will determine how desperate the Jets become in those contract negotiations . The Jets defense struggles really bad without D Revis , His demand and the salary he wants go way up.(he that important to the team) The Jets defense still plays good without D Revis his bargain position with the Jets becomes less. He probably will be traded .

Depending on the numbers ... We might have to let him walk.

There will be enough suitors for Revis regardless of whether or not the jets make a full press effort to resign him to make him the highest paid corner in the game, depending on how he plays the last 1/2 season of next year.

Maybe it's me but the last CB who was heralded by some as the best CB in the game didn't work out as well as he was payed.. So me thinks some teams will point to that and say wait a minute let's not repeat history. He will be 29 by that point.

The Jets can't let Revis walk. You can't let him leave for a third rounder (really a fourth rounder) in 2015 The Jets have to know if they are going to lock him up by training camp 2013 or are they trading him. (will be able to get something better than that 3rd rounder . To me that is the only two options they have.

Also another factor that will weigh in on Revis situation. Do the Jets think they are rebuilding ( couple years away) or they feel they can still win a championship.

NO you sign a CB or any player for that matter you have to make sure your going to play in a system that fits his style. You don't get a top man to man Cb, and ask them to play zone. Like you don't get a cover two Cb and ask them to play man to man.
