We are simply reaping what we have sown

Let's face it folks. The jig is up for now. Back in 2009, 2010 when the Jets were bringing in high priced free agents and mortgaging the future because the fans demanded it, what were people saying about this team? That the Jets were a win-now team. They had their shot and fell short. That was then, now comes the reckoning. We can't do this dance forever. Teams that win consistently are teams that build through the draft. This team has traded draft picks as if they were candy. Of course it also doesn't help that the players drafted have not turned to gold as we haven't had a significant first rounder since 2007. (No midas touch here, baby). So this is what happens when your window passes that's all. The shut out today will serve us well as now Rex's head will be completely removed out of his ass in thinking that this team is the uber-talented dreadnought he thought it to be. We will now be forced to re-tool the way teams ought to over several years of good drafting (bring back Bradway?)

We retool when the team owner realizes why business and friendships should never coexist

I disagree with the notion that we mortgaged the future back in '09 and '10. Sure, we had some high priced free agents, but the reason we're sucking right now is because our draft picks in those years haven't contributed at all. They suck. Sanchez is playing terrible, Greene was a playoff wonder, Wilson blows, Ducasse can't even start, Gholston was a bust, Joe McKnight can't play RB, and Keller hasn't lived up to the hype. These guys are all draft picks. We don't have a single impact player from all these picks.

The line was great back in the day because of FA's but they got old and we couldn't draft their replacements successfully. Our D is now in shambles because Revis got hurt and for some reason no one remembers how to tackle. The linebackers are missing tackles left and right and can't even cover. Plus, we never even had a pass rush before but now everyone has caught on to our overload schemes from '09 so we can't even run those.

What we're left with is a bunch of guys who need to live up to their potential. The '06 and '07 classes are the only guys that are pulling their weight but at some point sh**ty drafting catches on.

Lastly, I think leadership is the biggest concern right now. No one is being held accountable. The D is a joke right now and it's supposed to be the pride of this team. Someone has to step up and take control. Unfortunately, that means leading by example and playing well. But no one on this roster is capable of doing that.
