Woody prefers political win over Jets W

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Jets owner Woody Johnson would rather win the presidential election than see his football team have a winning season.

"I think you always have to put country first," Johnson said Monday while discussing the Mitt Romney campaign on Bloomberg TV.

Johnson is one of the chief fundraisers for the Romney campaign. During the interview, he was asked about the Jets' dreadful performance Sunday against the 49ers. Johnson blasted his team and also admitted the pressure is mounting on QB Mark Sanchez.

"The coaches and I aren't happy by what happened yesterday and the players aren't either," he said. "We're still leading the AFC East, but that performance was absolutely unacceptable."

The show hosts, who probably couldn't tell a defensive secondary from a presidential primary, pressed Johnson on the QB issue.

"No, this doesn't mean Tim Tebow is starting next week, but it's a question that will be asked more frequently if this progresses because this is unacceptable playing," Johnson said, adding, "We let our fans down."

"There's going to be more pressure (on Sanchez), but this quarterback can get the job done, he really can," he continued. "He had a bad day. The team had a bad day. It wasn't all Mark Sanchez."

    +1

Up until this year I was neutral about Woody as the owner. Now I can't stand the clown.

The sad thing is, there probably ARE a lot of people who care more about a winning football season than who resides in the White House . . .

You are right, and that is a sad commentary.

Just another loss for Woody to look forward to.

Who gives a ****? A lot of people are more concerned about who wins the Presidential election than their favorite sports teams. This is such a dumb, non-story.

Woody is an idiot. Why would you waste thousands/millions on a quack that believes in seer stones and magic underwear. Mitt is waste of space that's first presidential act would put us another $240 billion in debt with no plan to pay it back. Just vote none of the above or write in someone you believe in.

Now instead of asking him about the Jets having a winning season, ask him about the Jets losing him money instead of making a profit and see him flip his answer.
