What do we look for in FA and Draft after the season?

To me it doesn't seem like much.

Yes, Woody did say Sanchez will never be benched and Tebow will be here for three more years.

But, to me, besides the QB position, it doesn't seem like we actually need that much.

Pick up a running back and have Greene become the 2nd back and Powall become the 3rd back and you have a decent running game.

Stephen Hill will be in his second year, Kerley is fitting nice in the slot, Holmes on the outside for a few more years.

That offense is decent and maybe even make a move for a new offensive lineman.

So, a RB, a legit pass rusher, an OLB in later rounds like we did with Davis, a TE, and an offensive lineman.

Doesn't seem like we need much.

Right now no starting LG, RG, RT, TE, RB, SS, FS, 3 highly overpaid LBs, Sanchez and negative $20M of cap space.

    Biggest needs:

RB with three down back capabilities
2 OLBs with at least one with the ability to actually beat a 1 on 1
    QB
    RT
    RG/LG
TE who can primarily block but also catch dump-offs
    possession WR
slot Corner or safety with ability to play the slot

You have to be able to cheap out at some positions in the NFL so I'd look to keep a couple of the positions you listed. Howard has been adequate at RT... Costs nothing, and will cost nothing for a few more years.

LG we can survive with Slauson. We have had a good offensive line with him out there and we can continue to. Even Ducasse seems to be playing decent there.

Imo, true needs are in this order:

    1. QB - Far and away the biggest need because it is the most important position
    2. OLB - Two of them... Barwin would be fantastic if at all possible
    3. RB - Powell is an excellent blocker and therefore a fantastic 3rd down option, but need something for 1st and 2nd down
    4. TE - We use 2 TE's so much that we have to have 4 legit TE's on this roster.
    5. WR - always have to add weapons

We need at least 3 new linebackers, good luck to us with that.

I don't disagree with that, especially the having to cheap it out at certain spots argument. Guard is definitely one of those spots, but the reason why I brought it up was because both Slauson and Moore are free agents after the season. So in essence it will be a need.

I think the reason why Ducasse is rotating in every third series is because they want to get some decent film on him this year to see if he could hold up next year starting at a guard position. I don't know if he actually intially "earned" that right, but he hasn't looked bad when he's been given action. I know some of our better runs this year were when he was on the field.

That being said, I still think the team needs to draft a G/RT in the first four rounds and/or sign a starter in free agency. Other than that, we pretty much agree on all the needs.

At this point, the Jets have a sizable amount of needs with some of them being at absolutely critical areas (QB, pass rusher). Then there are some major needs in other areas like a legitimate RB and a few more building blocks on offense. If they cannot acquire a QB in the first, I'm all for using 2013 as the year to patch everything back up and then go for the QB in 2014. It's the same model the Redskins used in 2011/2012, and they were in a similar position to what the Jets are in right now... limited depth, aging/overpriced vets about to come off the books soon, many areas of need. Instead of reaching on Gabbert, they traded down for Kerrigan and received a slew of picks, getting guys like Leonard Hankerson, Jarvis Jenkins, Roy Helu, etc.

We don't need much outside of QB? What team are you watching?

    3 Offensive line spots
    RB
    TE
WR (can't assume development of Hill and need to set ourselves up to cut ties with Holmes when we can)
    NT
    2 ILB
    2 OLB
and we need another safety because Bell is old and Smith will be cut

After the Jets cut Pace ($8,560,000), Scott ($7,150,000), Smith ($3,000,000) accounts for almost 19 million. Jets should pick up a decent free agent (If Woody is not cheap).

Or give a $100 mil contract to Revis. Either or...
