Have Jets ever had this many injuries?

    I'm talking quantity & quality!

Lose best defensive & offensive player
    Keller has played 1 game
    Hill missed 2 games
Pouha has not been healthy all year
    Ellis out now
    Smith missed 2 games
    Mangold was tweaked
Lost 2 running backs last week
They say in the NFL "no excuses" next man up but this is getting ridiculous

Have to go back to 1985/86? when we lost a bunch of guys after going 10-1
    * Here's the kicker & SOJ thinking. Of course we have our worst year for injuries when the AFC is freaking WIDE OPEN! If ever there was a chance that a mediocre team with some luck could get into the Superbowl it's this year!
Lets hope that this Grimes kid turns into a Bradshaw type of back. Usually the hardest thing for a back is learning blitz pickup, but you just never know how good a RB is in this league until they get a chance. Easiest position to shine if you have some talent.
Hopefully we find some young gems that have to step up when they get the chance.

Have we ever had this many injuries, and still managed to start 3-3? Everyone should be fired. The Jets are the worst team in the NFL.

There have been a lot of injuries on a lot of teams this year. Why do you think there are only two teams with a winning record in the AFC?

It makes me wonder if the new practice rules are having an effect. In any case the conditioning program should be reevaluated

Other than the Ravens last week, you had teams missing like 1 star
Texans lost cushing for the season
Pats lost Hernandez for a few games

I guarantee you there was no team that had both WRs & starting TE like the Jets and then lost 2 RBs.

This is why quality depth is important. You're going to get beat up against the better teams and it's just a matter of who you're going to lose and how long.

This. I seem to remember us using a TE on OL at some point that year. The D wasn't any better as we also went threw like 5 CBs if I remember right.

I know we went 8-8 but I believe we started 2-6.

    99... And definitely 2005.

Every Jets fan should remember those two years. It wasn't even as if Vinny and Chad were the only ones to go down. It was just guy after guy..

I seem to remember losing several of our front seven at one point

including Gastineau, Klecko, Mehl - I think Lyons

2-6 with Myrer and 6-2 with Ray

That was a Super Bowl quality team if the injury bug didn't bite.

Bellichik was defensive coordinator i believe

The Jets have been spectacularly lucky with injuries during Tannys tenure up until now. A few of us said that the lack of depth would come to haunt the team at some point in time. It started last year and has continued this year.

You are correct......1986 was the worst. We were 10-1, and lost a really good player every week, all the guys you mentioned above. It was a nightmare, because that was a Really, Really good team. Could have easily won it all that season.

it happened all in one game.

In the locker room...Jackson(CB) blows out his hamstring, stretching it out. It was said you could hear it "pop"...like a cork from a champaign bottle. It was a bad omen.

Also I believe Clifton was injured in that game too.

And Walton developed tendinitis in his finger joints, from the increased nose picking he did the rest of the season.

We need Sal Alosi back! Maybe we're missing him more than we realize.
