pettine is the defensive coordinator. rex allows him to call the defenses and the schemes. have you noticed we dont use all that many blitz packages anymore.

The defense is above average - hardly elite though. The is a definite lack of talent. Cromartie is the only quality starter. All the younger players (drafted high) are not that great. A little late to do anything about THAT now. 10 sacks in 7 games. WOW. The safeties did not exactly handle Gronkowski and Hernandez either.
Watched Houston yesterday. That is a good defense WITH talented players.

lets blame the defense for holding a Tom Brady offense to two offensive touchdowns and forcing them into overtime on their home field

This message is hidden because copernicus is on your ignore list.

shouldn't you be spending more time teaching those impressionable youngsters so they can get into Ivy League schools?

rex calls the plays on defense...all you have to do is look at how he acts/operates when were on offense as opposed to defense.

God you are such a child. Putting someone on ignore means you just ignore them. Announcing they are on ignore shows that you really aren't ignoring them at all.

Pettine and Rex should not be fired. Most of the game the Defense played outstanding.

Having said that when the coach wants to beat his chest and talk about what a great defensive mind he is and what great defense's he had and has, you would think they could stop an offense with a 1:30 left and the lead. Rex's D has pretty much failed everytime the opponent has the ball at the end of a game and within a score.

With the Jets being down 23-20 the defense forced a three and out and got us the ball back with about 3 1/2 minutes to go... and that against one of the most prolific offenses in all of football, on the road nonetheless.

The prevent was a mistake, sure. But in overtime they would have also gotten off the field if it wasnt for a horrible PI call. In the end they played plenty good enough to win with a lot of young players in big spots. If we could only find a true edge rusher...

Ryan always had that problem in Baltimore aswell. Just ask Ravens fans.

Patriots lead the league in both points and yards a game and the Jets D held them at to 17 points in 60 minutes at home.

Rex and Pettine don't have their best player, their starting and backup NT, and have two complete dinosaurs at starting OLB who are useless rushing the passer. The defense played hard and was obviously prepared for the Pats no huddle offense.

But I agree let's fire them both. I yearn for the days of Herm.

Keeping Brady under 250 yards, only allowing the Pats 20 points as an offensive including overtime... if that's terrible, then I can live with it...

Realize the NE Patriotís put up:
    34 points vs Tennessee
    30 pointsvs Baltimore
    52 pointsvs Buffalo
    31 points vs Denver

They also rank 1st in the league with 436.1 yards per game.

If you expect the defense to shut them out, then yes, the defense was terrible, but I think you aren't being realistic.

The defense played well enough to win yesterday. The same can not be said of the offense (safety, int, and fumble) and special teams (gave up a TD return).
