    Stop the Madness!

I keep reading these threads about the Jets defense not stopping anyone when it counts.

What people don't take into account is the QBs that have beaten this Jets defense.
Tom Brady is one of, if not the BEST QB in modern football at the end of the game!

He didn't need a TD, he needed FGs & got close enough to have Gostkowski kick a 43 yarder to tie & a 48 YARDER to win!
    48 YARDS!
You guys make it sound like the defense gave up a chipshot!

This game is on Hill, Sparanos 3rd down & 1 calls, Special teams, Sanchez bad handoff & horrible late throw to Hill!
Every team that holds the Pats to 17 points BEATS THEM! Except us yesterday, not because the defense didn't HOLD a lead but because players & coaches made too many mistakes.

Rookie Ryan Tannenhill did the same thing. Tim Tebow did it last year. Colt McCoy did it the year before.

What do those QBs have in common with Brady?

Yes. Understand. But Rex, according to himself, is as good as it gets as a defensive coach. Yet this was just another final drive where if his D makes a stop the Jets win.

Add it the Atlanta a course if yrs ago, Jax a couple of yrs ago. Also at miami on MNF a couple of yrs ago. Denver last yr. not to mention the Houston game a couple of yrs ago that Sanchez ended up winning the game to holmes with 30 secs left.

They did stop them! Cro was in perfect position to get a pick & get the D off the field.
    He dropped it!
You don't get many chances vs Brady
    Players have to make plays

Forget the Miami game, Revis getting hurt was a mental blow to the whole team.
Lets see what happens this coming Sunday.
If Tannyhill has a great game I'd be shocked.

Jets D in Denver was gassed.
That game was 100% on the offense doing NOTHING.

Here is your problem. THE MOUTH claiming his greatness and the greatness of his defense. A great defense doesn't bend at the end of a game.

    Coaches coach & players play!
    Make a f*cking play!
Cro was in perfect position to make a pick, in fact it was in his hands!
Every week I see players make picks to change games.
    We had the chance.

Jets get the ball after the McCourty fumble & run twice up the GUT!
    Are you kidding me!
Go play action & take a damn shot at the endzone!
    Our offense has NO BALLS!
You play to win the game, especially ON THE ROAD.

How about Sean Hill and Colt McCoy in 2010? Rex D can't close out tight games. There is a long pattern here.

When you play ground & pound every game is close, this is the freaking NFL if you haven't noticed.
Any game that is within 6 points is winnable. There are players on everyteam that can make one play that can change a game.
Why do you think they call them "upsets" in the NFL.

Now if you want to tell me that the Jets defense is giving up 13 point leads in the 4th quarter like say..............The Pats & their supposed defensive genius at head coach.
We gave up 2 FGs to the best offense in the NFL, one being a winning 48 yarder.

again, stop the madness, our offense makes our defense have to play perfect games every week. When Jets get up on top early, we usually ROMP!

    Very strange...

reptilleon was absent from this joint for all of last week. Hopefully he wasn't ill or anything because his brilliant insights on the Jet team he so obviously loves and roots hard for were sadly missed.

Fortunately it appears he made a full recovery sometime yesterday evening and is back here educating us again

You're contradicting yourself here. You're saying the Jets run a physical, ball-control style offense that typically keeps the score close, but they aren't supposed to be able to rely on the defense to make a stop on a final drive to secure a victory?

As others have said, this is a trend. Far more often than not, this defense comes up short when the opposing team has one drive to win or tie. And this is from a team who's coach claims to be one of, if not the best, defensive minds in the game.

You're basically saying that the team has to build a 9-point lead prior to the final drive. I'm saying a team and coaching staff that spends all it's energy and resources and focus on building a top tier defense should be able to generate stops with any lead, at least some of the time.

No let's *NOT* forget the Miami game.

EVEN WITH Revis, the Defense has been downright Offensive when it comes to CRUNCH-TIME. And yesterday was not anything different.

Also, if a Rex-Ryan Defense needs to be up by TWO(not one) scores to successfully close out games late, then we might as well kick Rex Ryan to the curb 'cause his Defense is just like any other run-of-the-mill/middle-of-the-pack 'D' that SOMETIMES gets it done and MOST TIMES it doesn't.

If they stopped them they wouldn't have kicked the FG. Just as they didn't stop Atlanta, Jax etc..

With what pass rushers? Pace? Scott?
We need an outside stand up LB that can get after the passer.
Right now we don't have it.
I'm not saying the jets are "right" to have this offense, it is what it is & with the rules today, refs throwing PI flags from 25 yards away, it makes it too hard for defenses to dominate anymore when u play a team with a decent offense

I don't know why it's so hard for fans to look at a season in quarters.
The jets offense was severely limited because of injuries, no Keller, No Hill,
    No Holmes, RBs getting dinged.
In Seattle , Wilson threw for 289 yards, but 3 of those throws ended up being 40 yard TDs.
Do you honestly believe that will happen again?
And he did it at home.
Sanchez did enough for he jets to win on Sunday.
Keeping the Patriots from getting into FG position is very difficult, they are the BEST offense in the entire NFL, playing at home.
Think back to some of the things belichick use to do playing vs manning & the colts.
He once tried to get a 1st down on 4th&1 with a lead on his own 40!
Mistakes lost this game not the defense, mistakes & Rex & Sparano turtleing at the end of that game!
After the pick, the smart play was to be aggressive & throw on 1st down on that crappy secondary! We ran the ball up the gut for a yard twice!
1st down throw ends that game if completed, coaches need to adjust to game situations, on the road, after a TO, the right thing was to go for the gold & take that game leaving no chance for Brady to get another chance something belichick would have called for if he was on our sideline.
