The last fence post is still there but the fence is crushed. Yet not a scratch on the siding.

No power and no internet. Using my phone now.

Fortunately we took GMC's advice and got a generator.

Actually I had one before the big blackout. So we have lights, heat, gas stove, coffee maker and can use the dvd player on the tv. ( no cable) Plus just about anything else we want to plug in.

So I'm not complaining at all. Feel bad for everyone that really has it bad now.
Holy ****.. get us a pic when it all calms down. Glad everyone is safe.

FOX News.com has a phot retrospective of the devastation from NC to NY.

112 pics. Just stunning the damage.

Hoping all our resident NJ/NY'ers can check in here soon and everyone is safe and sound, in body if not in property.

    Jeebus.
Heard this story about Breezy Point on the radio this morning.

This aerial photo shows burned-out homes in the Breezy Point section of the Queens borough New York after a fire on. The tiny beachfront neighborhood told to evacuate before Sandy hit New York burned down as it was inundated by floodwaters, transforming a quaint corner of the Rockaways into a smoke-filled debris field.

Hurricane Sandy’s Breakout Star: Mayor Bloomberg’s Sign Language Interpreter

    By Joe Coscarelli

As serious as this storm is, Michael Bloomberg's frequent press conferences have also provided New Yorkers a legitimate reason to smile: Her name is Lydia Callis*, and she's the mayor's official sign language interpreter, translating live on air as he delivers the latest news on Hurricane Sandy. Unlike Bloomberg's own stilted Spanish, another highlight of the updates, Callis's signing is both lightning-fast and emotive, her animated face lighting up and contorting happily as she goes, not unlike a guitarist during a blistering solo. Callis already has quite the online fan club (tweets listed below).

The sign language language lady in Bloomberg's press conference entourage has way too much swag for this. She is hypnotizing.

No making fun of Bloomberg's sign-language translator. Seriously. Only love. She's doing her job both very well, and with STYLE.

I tell ya, the real star of Mayor Bloomberg's press conferences is that animated sign language translator he's got. Can't look away. #sandy

There is already a Tumblr, "Lydia Calas' [sic] Face for NYC Mayor," and, of course, here she is in .gif form (h/t @ditzkoff):
