No one is thumping any chests. It's a sad time to be a Jets fan. We feel more sorry for you because you didn't see it coming.
Exactly there was no joy at all in this thread. I'm angry, annoyed, let down, etc. Yesterday was the low point of the Rex Ryan era. If Tebow could even throw it half decent he'd be starting after the bye. It was a great idea to get rid of Drew Stanton. To not try to sign Jason Campbell or Kyle Orton. Tannenbaum is smart....
There is absolutely no "I told you so" going on here.
No one is more sorry to be "right" than the Realists are. We'd rather be 8-0 and being tarred-and-feathered by Blind Homer abuse right now, trust us.
That being said, we were harassed all summer, many of us wrongly banned, because a handful of so-called "most loyal" Jets fans got their rocks off by abusing other Jets fans, telling the mods we were trolls, invading any thread that we were trying to conduct that wasn't all sunshine and roses.
An apology is warranted and would be a nice gesture. The lesson here is that we're all Jets fans and all points of view should be embraced.
Indeed--the Rah Rahs will never understand that this pains us. We love our beloved Jets and only want them to do well. WE just believe in tough love.
The solution starts with a new GM. Everything that is wrong with this team stems from decisions made by the GM. I suspect the solution involves a change in both HC and QB as a starting point but I am willing to leave that up to the new GM. I also expect that any unbiased evaluation of our current roster will find a truly enormous amount of work that needs to be done. In other words we are probably going to be worse before we are better and the solution will probably take 3 years at least to evaluate.
I am willing to accept that pain if it looks like we are going in a good direction.
I HATE being right about this. I hate it. I want glory. I want 14 win seasons. I want Rex drinking champagne in February. BUT
This team is what I thought it was. The homers told us 12-4. They told us the Niners game was a speedbump. They told us Sanchez was struggling because x, y, and z. We were promised by the homers that this week was a walk in the park. Great team that lost a tight one in overtime. We were promised a lot. I think the homers owe us, me and others who they have ridiculed, called us SOJF, called us idiots (and worse) for not believing this was an amazing team.
I think they owe us an apology
I don't need an apology but I got SCORCHED for saying Greene sucks last year and you are a witness to that cause you used to defend me when people jumped all over me as early as the beginning of last year when I said we made a mistake not getting another running back with him to split carries. I begged for us to go for Ahmad Bradshaw when he had contract issues and people here said Greene was better lol ..... I said we shouldn't have signed Santonio and I got killed for that I said lets go after James Jones and just build a young receiving corps that Santonio wasn't worth what he was demanding. I said lets give the offense to Todd Haley rather than Sparano and got killed for that. I said Sparano would be just as bad as Schotty ...... I said our receiving corps this year was one of the worst in the league and we made a mistake not drafting more Kerley like receivers or signing these guys .... blah blah "we need a pass rush draft Coples" .... I said lets get Chandler Jones to help our pass rush .... "no no coples is a 2 way player" .... I hated the Mo draft pick, the Kyle Wilson draft pick .. I said lets go offense and people here said NO NO NO .....
We should have drafted offense at least once in the last 3 years in round 1 ... if not then traded the pick and stacked on more 2nd and 3rd rounders and got some TE's and more Kerley like receivers with more size or hell ... even a RB since we have stuck with Greene has the #1 RB for the last 3 years. LT was supposed to be a 3rd down back and he came here and took Greene's job cause Greene SUCKS. This thing has been lingering on for sometime. Management has done a piss poor job of not putting the proper pieces in place to help Sanchez unlike Atlanta has done for Matt Ryan, Tampa has done for Freeman or Det for Stafford. Its funny how Tampa drafts Doug Martin in round 1 for Freeman and in the past gotten TE's and receivers for him in 2nd and 3rd rounds to help him. Atlanta gives up a hell of a whole lot to give Ryan Julio Jones ... meanwhile the Jets only top draft pick on offense while Sanchez has been here has been Stephen Hill. We give Sanchez no possible homerun hitters at RB ... take 337377 years old LT for 2 years, ... so all these QB's around the league have weapons drafted for them and etc meanwhile sanchez gets stuck with Greene, Keller, constant downgrades at receiver, and a declining O line. Yeah we've done the kid justice. We've played "how to not help your QB in 4 years" better than anybody.
True he may be lying but this wasn't a great team even with Revis and Holmes
Holmes sucks .... drafted DE's instead of getting OLB's that can get the QB have killed us. Rex goes for all these "2 way players" but in reality they are "1 way" players cause none of them can beat their man 1 on 1 to get to the QB. Pace got a sack last week cause of a protection breakdown ... he was unblocked. I think we have the WORST 1 on 1 pass rush group since Rex has been here yet he does after these DE's who are better at stopping the run than rushing the QB. Rex's influence is just as bad as Tanny. I highly doubt Tanny drafted Kyle Wilson and made that decision by himself. Rex's influence is too big in that front office. He brought in Leonard, Bart Scott, Pryce. It payed off right away cause they knew the system but eventually we needed to go younger and also not just go after DE's 2 out of 3 years in round 1.
