Isaac Redman: What We Want Greene To Be

Strong downhill runner who has good lateral speed. Does not get brought down by arm tackles like Greene tends to do. Is the perfect mold for this archaic "ground n pound" system we insist on using.

    He'll never be that player.

Greene is a good enough RB for the ground and pound, or ourline however is not.

Ground and Pount = 90% oline, 5% WR blocking, 5% RB

    Yep.

Not saying that Greene is particularly talented, but a lot of our problem is the offensive line and play design.

What is rather illustrative with the Steelers is that they get good run game production, regardless of which of the 5 RBs they start. Now, either the Steelers have gotten lucky or or just that damned good in identifying RB talent, that they have 5 guys that can pound the rock, OR, they have good Oline play and play design, which means that they can stick any number of guys back there and they'll get production out of them.

Redman's always on the trade block in Madden and anytime i'm not the jets in a career, it always seems like he ends up with the Jets. maybe Tanny should take a look at the madden Jets GM.

What a dumb thread. Classic case of watching a player have one good game and assessing their ability.

He was averaging 2.5 yards per carry coming into today's game. He's a bad player. The Steelers had no running game at all through the first few weeks, when Mendenhall was first out.

Redman played the best game of his career today. Good for him, but he's still a significantly below-average player. Greene is a better back than Redman, and that's not saying much.

    Sheer and utter nonsense.

His percentages may be skewed a bit, but his overall point is correct.

Unless your name is Barry Sanders, you aren't going to be very productive as a RB in this offense.
